Of Course...

NOS Brand makes fuel pressure cutoffs of varying pressure...I got 30psi, since 40Psi puts out 43GPH which is way more than I need (on top of stock fuel)

And I got a fuel pressure guage on the regulator and an electronic one for the dash, I think mechanic fpg are illegal on the street...

Also a NOS Brand time delay so the fuel solenoid opens before n02...

Lastly a fuel shut off right on the fuel cell which ill be able to reach...

Trust me this fuel system is to protect the car/engine from catostrophic failure, I've built a few for customers years ago, never in a BMW. But understand the risks of gasoline in the car are very real and not to be taken lightly.

Yea it took much longer than expected. Due to boost leak, a faulty head light, guessing a short to ground somewhere bc battery seems to discharge over night randomly. It's getting finished and back in shop. But feels good knowing the chasis is still straight as an arrow and the car is just as tight as it should be for low milage.

Wasn't planning on driving it much in cold weather either so I'll use this down time to track down the boost leak....bench test my fuel/n20 setup before spraying the engine. Installing bootmod3 and possibly testing or if given the opportunity to create a low boost, proper ignition timing map for a dual stage but relatively small wetshot. Determine proper nozzle size for the meth injection via Innovative Motor sports Wideband 02. And in general starting on very low boost and a very small shot seeing how this particular version of the n55 takes to nitrous....

I doubt anyone knows but does anyone happen to know the piston ring specs on the m2s engine. I'd like to know the ring gap of an installed ring in the engine since from my experience a small ring gap coupled with heat from a lean lamba is a common failure
e point. Even a place I could find out would appreciated. I've done a tremendous amount of searching.

Short of hundreds for an official BMW rebuild manual [
Which I can't even find on the new variant of the n55]....

Too lazy to resize pics this minute but I'll post some shortly. The lowered stance with the rear spacers and meaty NT05 tires gives the car a much more agressive look and no rubbing except on the inner fender wells in the rear over sharp speed bumps. I love and miss my baby
, but the longer it takes to make perfect the more I'll appreciate her and all the new nittos this summer

Thank you.

Not too much new over here other than I got some carbon wrap, also 15mm Spacers for the front...

They look great on the rear, and fit no problem even with lowering springs, a 35mm offset, 10.5" wide tire and notoriously thick Nitto NT05 tires (275, 35, 19s w 9.5"so hopefully no rubbing...

VRSF CP is being insttalled now (PROPERLY) taking a break during the rain...

Pretty sure burbles ARE backfires.. mini ones from extra fuel in the hot exhaust pipe... GREAT RIDE!

I suppose ....Definitely a type of backfire...Theyre a result of unburnt fuel in the hot exhaust but exagerated by cam Timing, ignition timing...When you let off throttle many cars have some fuel in the plenum and CB and the early opening of the exhaust valves and can produce more power because almost all power is made in the first 50% of the pistons downward movement, valve closed its just compressing useless spent gases and when the valve does open there's a less complete evacuation, which means less room, in the intake stroke...This is what VANOS Does and part of its genius...lowering parasidic draw everywhere possible is often overlooked in increasing performance...valve overlap or advancing individual cam timing can reduce it, though most engines dont have independent control over intake/exhaust cams...

update: Finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought Bootmod3 license...DME Unlock done immediately after purchase of car by ENZO RACING. Keeping JB4 for meth and possible nitrous control.

buying 93 stage 2 ots map, and methanol/race gas map for now.

Will dyno the car before and after...With FBO, open cutout, C02 intercooler sprayer and methanol/100 octane, I hope to get close to 450whp /500+ tq on the racegas tune...well see

Bootmod3

Bootmod3 Successfully Flashed and a great match with Map 1 and 5 I find...Very consistent 18+PSI tapering to around 16psi @ 5500-6000 RPMS, However the drop is accumponied by a healthy ramping of timing advance that off sets the drop in boost pressure...

While there's no codes, or drivetrain malfunctions of any sort and more I do detect from engine noise slight pinging as spark hits sooner...

Got some MS100, Hooking up BMS Methanol/Water today and making a dyno appointment at VTR Monday...

Ill be doing Exhaust cut open vs closed
C02 Inter coooler sprayer On vs Off
Stock Map vs Stock & JB4 vs Bootmode3 Stage 2 Alone vs Stage 2 & JB4 stack
And obviously Bootmod3/JB4 + 50/50 Water Meth.

Meth Installed last week, I couldn't find my 7 GPH nozzle, only my 12 GPH I bought for N20 Application. The BMS kit as suspected was a very straight forward install although I wouldn't personally consider the FSB a "Fail Safe Box" and I also cant believe cooling mist would produce the FSB (original) with all of the circuity exposed and suggested install place very close to outside weather...

As of now using such a big nozzle (received a new CM7 today, will probably install tomorrow.) I'm using very conservative meth settings...Additive between 15-25....Scaling I have the pump on a 40% Max Duty Cycle...and meth begins at 8psi...Because the open down pipe I find lower in lower gears the DME is responding to the rapid onset of high boost with 50-60% throttle closure and even then at 2.5 extra psi I can over boost in 1st and 2nd gear...

While I simple BMS integration and believe its more than enough for 99% of applications, when I add the N20 there will definitely be a Cooling Mist Gauge and true flow sensor and I will be adjusting my Water:Meth ratio.

Its amazing to see IATs drop to 80*F today in 105*F weather here in NY...While days like today I dont feel a huge increase on the but dyno. I don;t find the loss of performance usually associated with 105 degree weateher. I also think a CM12 nozzle on stock turbo and such conservative settings is adversley effecting performance, and a cm7 with n additive of 25-30 and and scaling of 50 during the summer will be a much bigger performance adder...Im not losing power but for a cold 21 psi at 4k rpm I would expect a little more umph. 21 may just be too much even for lower RPMs

ALSO: Been speaking to the PTF guys about a low boost , possible high RPM retard or ability to retard as another failsafe....Like BMS and Terry their stance is not to give advice on N20 due to its potential danger , I agree with this 100%. As most do not have the ability to safely setup and use nitrous on this engine...

However the custom map editor is very close to being a reality...And as Ive been saying this is the last piece of the puzzle to finally start running a timy amount of N20 to change the high low rpm torque/ high rpm falling off of power the N55 has been suffering from for years...

As soon as the editor is released I can modify some OTS conservative maps. lower boost , make knock detection more sensitive or cause a more powerful response, depending on logs and how the engine handles a miniscule amount of nitrous, maybe a small amount of timing retard near redline...Well see....But I cant wait to make some small modifications custom tailored to my engine...And obviously finally build up to a successful medium size wet shot of N20 and finally put my simple but powerful secondary fuel system to work...

Pics of the meth install shortly...

Basic JB4 Logging of Bootmod3 Stage II with 93 Octane

Very Basic Logging using JB4 OBDII Canbus to show basic parameters, RPM, Boost, Ign Timing, Throttle Plate, and DME Boost Target.

This is on 93 Octane in 75*F Ambient temps...

Boost stays steady at 17-18Psi before tapering to around 15.5-16PSI...

On 100% VP MS100 Octane (Unleaded) Boost raises to hold a steady 20Psi before dropping to around 16PSI...

Currently I am running the basic OTS Stage II Map...I also have a Methanol/Racegas Map, and a Map specifically made for JB4 BEF

From my butt dyno the car feels the fastest running the Basic Stage II Map with a small amount of meth and an additive of 0. Without JB4 raising the boost, the lowered IAT and supressed knock activity automatically raise boost levels to 20-21 PSI with IAT about 10* lower than ambient temps, and while dropping boost sometimes stays over 16psi into redline with timing ramping up 5+*F....

Ill screen shot some Methanol Pulls later today and add some parameters.

Some of you that know me or have followed this "build" know Ive been aching to experiment with a wet nitrous oxide setup on my M2 for a while. While I have everything needed which includes a complete separate bypass style high pressure fuel system, with its own drag race fuel cell, the missing link was the ability to run the proper tune as even the oem tune I feel is too agressive on boost and timing to even safely run a 35 wetshot...Now that Bootmod3 map editor is close to being a reality, I have my game plan and failsafes well mapped out...

Earlier in the thread I discuss and display the basic but effective fuel system Ive put together to feed the fuel solenoid... Here are the fail safes I have and will have in place for my setup.

The ground for the N20 solenoid will go to a 30psi Fuel Pressure sensor located immediately before the Pihranna N20 Wet Inj Nozzle. Without 30 psi of physical fuel pressure there will be no continuity between the two terminals and the N20 solenoid cannot open, from there its last stop is Pin #9 on the JB4 that goes ground when all of the "Nitrous Integration" failsafes have been met...TPS @ 100% AFR @ 12 or lower, Timing at a cieling of 2-3* and an RPM window of 4500 to 6800 and "Min Meth Flow" in actuality pump recieving current...

The real meth failsafe will come from an actual Cooling Mist Guage/Flow sensor

I will be renting a local dyno for a few hrs, prepared with a few pre made maps from 12-17psi and differing levels of timing advance/retard...and bringing notes on older N55 jetting options...What combinations they used and power outputs..Just as a reference point.

I will be starting with the minmum 35 shot jettiing combo but I will have countless combinations of both N20 and Fuel jets ranging from 35 N20 jet w/ a 50 shot fuel jet up to a 75 nitrous jet and 100 fuel jet...

Working my way slowly up with an EGT gauge, My Innovate Wideband 02 + Logworks software, JB4 6cyl logging, and LASTLY WHP/Torque Output...My goal is to boost 15-16 psi across the board with a 50hp wetshot and Meth...Finding a combination that yields a rich but not dangerously rich (no risk of puddling of intake manifold, destructing backfires, or cylinder wall washing) healthy AFR (02 actually senses lambda and coverts to a Ratio display) This will be done by finding a good combination of fuel jetting, Methanol nozzle and jetting and LAMBDA Table in Bootmod3 editor. I will attempt to make the meth injection and fuel system the primary sources of fuel and the OEM system only there for minor closed loop corrections in short term fuel trims...This may not be possible as I need a map that is for N20 but I do not want to cause damage going WOT without meth and my secondary fuel pump...So it may have to be reversed...depends on map editing software and how BMW utilizes open / closed loop fueling

I believe that with the proper combination, I will be able to come close to PS2 hp/tq, maybe a little higher or lower, however my aim is to make a linear power which produces max torque at a much higher RPM which by default will make more horsepower, and make that power where its needed above 5000 RPMs....

My complete fuel system and N20 Integration/Meth settings can be seen earlier in this thread. Here is my nozzle setup...As you can see the Fuel Pressure Safety switch is located just prior to the jet. This ensures that if there is fuel solenoid, or fuel pump failure or even a clog the n20 solenoid will not open. A total of 7 physical and electronic fail safes in total will ensure I do not reach a lean condition. If a lean conditionis detected or even prior to that power/ground is disrupted to meth & fuel pumps and meth & fuel solenoids either the JB4 or my wideband will disrupt ground to the N20 solenoid and ground the wastegate resulting in a total boost dump and N20 cutoff...

The Nozzle will be placed in the intake pre-turbo which will allow the frozen nitrous oxide to convert back to a vapor or gas state....It also prevents it from damaging sensors upstream, it will cool the turbo, and also lower IAT without freezing a meth/water mix wihich at 50/50 freezes at -20*F...N20 after rapid expansion can get as cold as -70 degrees (based on my laser thermometer and bench testing freezing my intercooler) **Video of this also earlier in thread.

All of the following conditions will be met to literally make it impossible to have a lean condition as a result of N20 (the cause of failure of 99.9% of N20 failures)

1. 30 PSI @ N20 Pihranna Nozzle
2. Minimum Meth flow determined by A. Jb4 (Current draw from pump) and
B. actual Meth flow sensor by Cooling Mist
3. JB4 TPS
4. JB4 RPM Window
5. JB4 AFR
6. JB4 Timing
7. 2nd Independent Wideband 02 must see a mixture within my pre determined range...

I would usually consider this amount of fail safes overkill but with such an expensive engine and the only N55/Nitrous combos Ive been able to find are on older 335s...So you can never be too careful...

Safe to say the ONLY thing I have to worry about is actual cylinder pressures but with the cooler burn temps of a rich air/fuel ratio, boost 1-7psi lower than stock and such a small shot of N20, im not worried...

The cooling effect of the nitrous on the IAT and obviously the turbo combined with oxidation of the proper high octane fueling combo, without making combustion chamber pressures too high, as we are still open deck : I think 500+ whp is easily within reach...I say this based on numerous old threads of n55 335is utilizing 50+ shots (some even dry)....

My goal is not to have high "glory" numbers on the dyno, but to make a linear powerband that is uncharacteristic of the N55. Power where it counts, and no lag...This combo, more or less hp than a Ps2 is irrelevant as I believe Ill have more power in the 5k to redline range....This is my hypothesis anyway, only real world application will tell and that will be not too long after the map editor release, and obviously myself getting comfortable with the soft ware

Good question. Any day now. I replaced the dirty BMS Air Filter

1. I need to swap my semi fowled OEM plugs for NGK Iridiums 1 step colder plugs and Ive just been to lazy.

2. I need to go to the local paintball supply place and fill C02 (I want to see if it actually makes a difference)..

3. And I need to hit the speed shop get 5 gallons of M1, ans 5 Gallons of MS100 as I want to test some combinations (50/50 WMI vs 100% Meth, C02 cooled FMIC vs just my VRSF FMIC, 93 vs Race fuel) And I beleive you should always swap plugs (and bring an extra set before hitting the dyno)

The data logs vs hp/tq charts from this dyno session may be used to customize my stage 2 bootmod3 map when the editor comes out so I want everything to be right...

SO your answer is, very soon...Within the next few days I'll do the plugs ad hit the dyno on the next cooler day.
