M2 Performance Edition with Stripes???

Dealer just sent me a picture of my new M2 Performance Edition that was delivered today. What's up with the vinyl stripes?

It's not part of the package. The dealer may have elected to add the stripes on as a dealer installed package ($xxx).

I can understand your surprise and unhappiness with the Dealer ADM Package, but I'm sure the dealer will finish installing the other parts (body-side moldings, mudflaps and deep-dish chrome wheels) before you take delivery.

I have mixed feelings for the strips. How long will they hold up and still look good.

What is that circle?

It's also a great mount for a GoPro camera or a US Mill Works removable license plate holder.

Bet the extra dollars don't come off as easy.

OP, did you order the car or they just decided to do this, or did they have it coming and this was already there?

Stripes are an option. The car doesn't come that way. Your dealer will tell you that "you will like it when you see it in person". Beware that your neighbors and loved ones won't whisper that you're allegedly struggling with a midlife crisis.

Let me tell you my little hiccup story during delivery.

A year ago, in the week of taking delivery, my dealer asked me if I fancied the M Performance trunk spoiler. I replied that I didn't want it as I prefer the OEM Gurney flap. Next e-mail: "Uh, sorry, but the trunk spoiler is already installed on your car - Do you want us to remove it and re-install your Gurney flap ?". I grumbled and asked him to send me pictures. Next e-mail: pictures + "You will like it when you see it in person !" + "We will give you a discount" + "Sorry again !". I gave in and left it on (Betalink glue can be a b*tch and I didn't want the mess of a Gurney flap re-install on my brandnew car). Saw on my invoice that I got a 20% discount for the MP trunk spoiler. Final e-mail: "And what about winglets front and side ?" + pictures of those parts uninstalled yet. My reply: "Over my dead body !".

The factory stripe kit is OTT but alpine white suits some M sport color more than any other standard paint option in my opinion so I did this

Picked the car up today. The dealer did want to charge $500. I was able to get them basically for free after a bit of negotiating.

They're coming off as soon as I can get the car to a paint protection film shop... probably early next week.

Car is great otherwise.

Wait, so let me understand this. The dealership added the stickers without your permission. Then you had to negotiate with them to get the cost of the stickers down, but still didn't quite get them for free. And now you have to have them removed on your own (on your time and at your cost and risk). Sounds fair enough.
