Not sure if it's available with ID5 on the MY17's, but for MY16's with ID4, it allows two phones to be connected to the car simultaneously. It's handy if you, like me, have a personal and work cell.

Under HEADUNIT, make sure you're in expert mode,
3000 HMI>HMI_ID_VERSION
and if your car is equipped with the right equipment it will show up.

Does anyone have a correct translation of the menu options? Or has that been fixed since April 12?

Do I need the gate iCar 2 WiFi adapter or can I use my BMW M Performance WiFi adapter?

When do I need to worry about having a regulated power supply? Some of the coding forum say I need a 50+ amp? Yet, I see others doing remote coding.
Apparently Carly will only work with their adapter. I was not able to do anything with the iGate I have. I asked for a refund but so fat nothing.

BIMMERCODE will eventually handle all we need. In fact there was an update this last week.

Enhanced Bluetooth is standard. Does not require additional coding.

Display Current Gear

I am really new to this process. I tried to code the display current gear. Everything went thru and it said it was successful but I don't see anything while driving. This is not real important to me but was one I was curious about. Before I made this change it used to show the suggested gear. Now I see nothing?

Yes, done this afternoon both the gong sounds and removal of the seat belt warning message in the console. You have to do driver and passenger separately. Coding was straight forward with no issue.

Any way to export your backups? Anyone code on (2) or more bimmercode devices (iPhone and iPad)? I'd like to have an initial factory backup or reset to factory settings option within the app. Any other subsequent backups should be centrally available too.

If iCloud or iTunes backups are the only option, we should be aware of these risks.

Anyway, just thinking ahead, planning my backup strategy and any experience from bimmercode users. If you cannot export or centrally store backups, using (1) device and maintaining regular iDevice backups is best practice.

Thanks

You can export your backups to you computer (or import them) using iTunes - treats it like any other program that can drag/drop items.

I've used it on 3 different iPhones (personal, work and wife's) and now 11 BMW's (great easy way to make money on the side ), all with great success.

By the same token, what's to stop someone from installing the app onto a phone and shipping that phone and ODBII thing around to forum members?

Good point - especially if it's an iPod touch or something, that wouldn't hold much personal information.

I should note that anyone expecting to make a business out of this will be sorely disappointed - it's definitely not as comprehensive as a proper eSys coding with a professional. But for the enthusiasts around town that just want the disclaimer to go away and their mirrors to fold, this can get it done very quickly and for cheap.

Something that struck me as odd though, was the fact that all these rich folks, owning all these fancy BMWs () thought it was too expensive to buy the app + OBDII dongle and would rather pay me the $20 to get it done. Go figure.

Ha - I bought this specifically to do disclaimer and mirrors and nothing else.

I did disclaimer, mirrors at higher speed and long touch, Id 6 lite, screencast, and radio off with door.
