For self parking I park away from other cars. Back of lot when possible, in a corner spot as close to curb as possible, so only one car can park alongside mine. Beyond that worrying about anything happening is a waste or time.

From my experiences 9/10 valets cannot be trusted either

Never had an issue with the valets in NYC except for the time they lost one of my car keys.

They foot the entire bill for my cab fare home + new keys + labor.

You just have to be sure it's a group of professionals and not teens jerkin' around.

On occasion my alternate course of action has been to go somewhere else. I do this all the time if I am not ok with the parking situation. It drives my wife crazy, but after all of these years she's getting used to this. Even my CA knows me well. She parked my new M2 in a corner space at the dealership for my pickup earlier this month.

I used to work as a valet parking attendant in Boston when I went to school there. And believe me DO NOT trust valets. I was young and reckless. So many of us would take joy rides in nice sports cars. Do donuts in empty parking lots. Etc...

A valet mode that turns down the boost would be handy for those of you that do valet.
