BMW told Road and Track $116,900 euros. I'd think all you'd need to do is take a look at the current market adjustment percentage for BMWs at that price in Europe and the exchange rate percentage.

M4 CS pricing:

BMW: $116,900 euros = $125k
Auto Blog: $100k
Top Gear: 89k euros = $95k
Carwow: 90k euros = $96k
Believe the 89,130 price was Pounds and not Euros.

There are currently 26 new 2016 M4 GTS cars listed on Car Gurus for sale stating at $129,000 asking price....and 42 on Aututrader starting at $127,000....considering there were only 300 units available in the US market, this may give BMWNA pause for thought about exclusivity and pricing.

I just don't see in what universe BMW would try and take a 2 series chassis to compete with a mid engined, lighter, 400+ HP, manual Porsche GT car.

Unless it is the M2GTS we are talking about.... Which will be a truly track focused car.
The current GT4 is/will be a better sports car in every possible measure except straight line speed than the CS. I agree with W/// about the MSRP of the 981 GT4. It's a bargain at <$90k. The M division better perform wizardry on the 'upgraded' M2 in order to justify a 80-90k USD price tag. Installing an S55 that sounds like an N55 and shedding 200 lbs would do it for me. Neither will happen.

It seems pretty clear the M4 GTS appealed only to BMW enthusiasts. I believe the M2 special edition variants will at the very least appeal to all European sports car enthusiasts. There should be a lot of demand.

If they ask too much money for it though, people will wake up and still realize it's not as good as anything Porsche offers. They need to be careful or else the M2 will go the way of the M3/M4 to basically anyone who isn't a true BMW groupie.

It may also cool down a bit the so-called 'coin flippers'. Zilch respect for the car itself - merely buying the car to immediately sell it onwards with a nasty profit to enthusiasts. Well, not making the expected "quick buck" on an M4 GTS teaches those sharks a lesson to steer clear from BMW. The Porsche brand offers better 'frenzy opportunities' for those speculators.

I used to have hopes of owning a P car.. but since the Cayman GT4 wasn't really available..... and Especially after seeing the thread on the average profit of a new Porsche is $17K ..vs average profit of $5K on a new BMW... i'll only be buying a new Porsche with " someone else's money".. I'm good...

Porsche tax is a real thing! I love my P car but the extra it cost to maintain is starting to wear on me. My 1M was much cheaper and easier to maintain. Mark your statement is true... I'll Be Back.

CarGurus is an aggregator of listings from various sites, including AutoTrader, so the 129 listings on CG more than likely include the 42 from AT. Still, it's a lot, of course, but wanted to point that out. I've even seen CarMax listings on CarGurus, although only a handful.

M4GTS sits around despite limited numbers because: 1) compared to on track performance and handling of other similarly priced cars - not special; 2) looks were love it or leave it. When you compete against the GT3 and Viper ACR-E price point but have LESS performance and handling, it loses its buzz fast. IMHO, its that simple. Car manufacturers are always better off ditching luxury items (save weight) for performance and handling but today's BMW can't seem to figure this out. If it happens, maybe the M2GTS will be different - UNLIKELY. Carbon roof, LWBS option, MT option, strip out Idrive crap and screen, etc. Okay, now I am delusional.

I'd love the for BMW to focus the M2 GTS on being the ultimate back road bomber instead of a track weapon. Leave the 6 speed, strip it, lightweight goodies, and give the GTS front suspension; that would be perfect. Attempting to compete with the sports cars with a commuter car base in today's market is foolish (ie the GTS). But applying all of that front engine rwd heritage to produce the legendary hoontactular street weapon possible..... makes me want to open my wallet.

BMW should look to Hyundai for examples:

RWD, usable power, and short wheelbase = win

Irony, didn't Hyundai pinch one of the top brass at BMW M two years ago?

Also, that thing looks like a modern CRX from the 90's - looks cool!

They hired Albert Biermann who ran parts of M and worked on the last m3 and others. Hyundai even calls their new performance line "N", lots of borrowed inspiration, lol.

Spot on here, not delusional at all, this is the perfect opportunity, hope they don't blow it.

GTS is too much stripped down awesomeness for me. I want the back seat, but no stick option on the CS is sadness.

Artemis, is the M2 CS still scheduled to have orders start in January 2018 worldwide?

Did they say anything about the actual M2 CS release date in 2018.Earlier info said that it would be released in March 2018 as a MY19 production year car.

Word (still) is that late Autumn 2017, dealers will finally be able to give us proper info about the M2 CS.

In the meantime BMW M is apparently still holding the M2 CS cards close to its chest.

S55 engine: yup.

It's the Hyundai RM16 test mule; the engine and drivetrain have migrated rearward. Possible Cilo V6 (one of the few street cars I'd willingly replace the 1M with) levels of awesome with this one.
