2018 Audi RS3 Sedan
Looks like our neighbors up north got spec sheet of the 2018 RS3 Sedan.
http://fourtitude.com/news/2018-audi...ricing-leaked/ Standard equipment, it seems as though the car is pretty fully loaded. Surprised that they're charging for the carbon fiber engine cover though. But standard package comes with diamond stitch "fine" nappa leather sport seats, led headlights, led taillights, pano roof, magnetic ride, audi virtual cockpit, rear view camera, etc. That's not bad at all. I'm not an Audi fanboy, far from it, but I have to say that BMW has fallen waaay behind Audi in this aspect. The M2 gets cheap crappy dakota leather??? No led headlights or tailights, no magnetic ride, no vitual cockpit, no rear view camera standard...etc... I can even make the argument that the legendary 5 banger in the Audi is far superior to the N55, which I know, here is heresy. Especially, if the speculation about the price is true, I think the Audi is the better bang for the buck here. Before the argument is made that it's priced higher than the M2, but if you add the DCT to the M2, the M2 is actually much higher. For sure, hands down, I admit the RS3 will never be as much fun as the M2, but you're definitely getting a lot more in terms of practicality and standard features for your money.

Your last sentence should have been your first as it holds, by far, the most value.

the RS3 is an awesome car, but there is something about the way it looks that just doesn't do it for me.

Definitely an impressive list of standard features. Tempting but I am not a fan of the styling of the A3 sedan.

The RS3 might be faster, more accessorised etc.
But for me, its side look is a total deal breaker. No personality, complete bland look. |

LOL, it's my concluding statement and pretty much my final verdict. My heart will always say M2 but my brain RS3.

I'll admit the M2 is the most expensive car I've ever purchased, so I guess I've not lived with the "finer things in life". I'm always a little put off when someone makes this comment. The seats in the M2 are the same as the seats in my 135 and feel fine for me. The leather held up well in that car up to the day I traded it in for the M2.
As for the RS3, no manual transmission is somewhat the deal breaker. As the OP noted, it has a nice feature list but I'm quite happy with what I have. |

Even ceramic brakes??? Plus paint options. And you get AWD. Hmm... I'm really not an audi fan, but this is pretty interesting. Isn't the S tronic a slush box though? Not a dual clutch?
I expect there will also be issues getting this car initially. |

Stronic is a DCT box, not viscous coupling slush box. New S4 has a slush box, but not the RS3

Drove the current one in Stockholm and really liked it. Exterior is very blah though. If you can benefit from 4 doors and can wait I'd hold out for the M2 GC or 240 if you need xDrive. I have a deposit down on the M2 GC and pulled my RS3 deposit.

Hmm. It has a ton more features besides more hp and awd. Tft dash, led headlights, nicer interior, electronic suspension, ceramic brake option, man it's a long list. I'm not a fan of 4 doors or the styling from the side, but the equipment list is pretty compelling. Oh, and it's faster. I'm really hesitating.
I'll also add the way bmw has f'd with us on the m2. No cars, a 2016 that lasted 3 months, no cars and now an LCI that will depreciate the crap out of the 2017s, I've waited a year and I'm wondering if I'm still happy. |

This isn't even the new gen I5... yes, they sound good. The BMW lumps sound good too though, and they are so much smoother... you can put in motor mounts and it's not going to shake your teeth out. The I5 naturally wants to vibrate itself to pieces. They understeer like the nose-heavy pigs they are though; even the TTRS (mk2) does (although it has more weight in the nose with an iron block). It's also a damn shame we can't get the hatchback version in the US; if that was an option I would be definitely pausing between the utility there vs. the M2. Magnetic suspension is pretty fantastic though... just save your pennies for when it fails (assuming you're keeping the car longterm). Struts are like $1500/ea. Audi CPO warranty doesn't cover them either (a fact they conveniently failed to mention to me when I bought mine used). The virtual cockpit thing is really slick too; I'm curious to see how quickly it feels outdated, or if they actually continue to create software updates for it down the road.
