Had been hoping to avoid mid-winter delivery but, what can you do?

Problem now: how to private sale my 2012 (Dinan Stage 2) Sapphire 335is --only 51K kms-- in middle of Cdn winter?

--Advice appreciated!
Sorry, no useful advice from me. Tried to sell my 135i in late fall with my M2 delivery pending and only got some lowballers. It is stored along with my M2 until the spring and I will try again then when people have sports cars on the mind again here in NS. GLWS!

It's a bit of a special case here in the maritimes though, as we don't really have a used market for these types of cars.

Why the heck not?!? With our beautiful winding coastal roads... they were made for these cars

Shipping is easy! I bought my Volvo S60 T5 in Vancouver and had it shipped out (so hard to find manual Volvos I had to go far and wide to get one at the time).

Crazy markup??
That's like 12k cheaper than what I paid taxes in for mine.

For reference, mine is '17 LBB 6spd MPE, connectivity, sunroof, diffuser, lip spoiler and grilles

Yup. That seems like a good price all in. I think Saskatchewan taxes are 10% (5+5) so base of $63K (for MY2017) plus 10% is $69.3K. That is actually crazy cheap if they are only charging $1K for all the dealer charges. If it is not AW, they are actually charging zero for dealer charges.

If that was before taxes, I could see the concern.

Just wanted to ask some advice, should I be worried that I've been 'given' an allocation verbally through email, but no details of the allocation even after asking for it?

My sales rep. says I have the allocation for a March build for delivery in late April/early may but says she would contact me closer to the date with the details.

I'm in the exact same boat with those exact dates in the same city. Did you at least get an order/production number?

If you have an allocation you have a production number. Ask your CA/SA for the production number and then just spam calls to BMW until your car is on a boat

In all seriousness though, once you have the prod #, there isn't much anyone can do because you're now just waiting for the car to be built and shipped.

No. Don't have anything but a verbal confirmation of allocation and dates. How about yourself? Mind if I ask which dealership you purchased?

I agree with gmzanatta... she needs to give you your production number ASAP. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of a better offer coming in and them bumping you down non the wiser. If they have an allocation they have the prod #. Or perhaps another SA sold it out form under her to Kid Eh?

Today I basically finalized my deal to pick up my M2, hopefully for the BMW Canada M Euro Tour at the end of May, otherwise for Euro-delivery end of May/early June. I don't have absolute confirmation of the allocation yet and they still need to announce actual dates for the Euro Tour this year but with a little luck it should all work out. I've been on my dealership's list since March/April last year.

For anyone else interested in the Euro Tours (Canadian's only, it's run by BMW Canada), this year they're running 4 of them. One in late May for any M cars, a June one for i8 customers and then 2 in August with cars TBD. The actual dates haven't been announced but your SA should be able to get their hands on the initial documentation sent out from BMW Canada.

Cool. I had heard that they were expanding these! Anyone who get's the chance MUST go! Although you have to pay for the M Euro Tour, it is probably worth 3x the value. The quality of the hotels, the BMW reps travelling with you, the dedicated photographers etc. It's just an amazing experience. If I had the cash I'd try to get on this trip ( and buy a new M ) every year! In fact there are some people who are repeats on some of these trips. BMW Canada along with BMW M division people in Germany do an amazing job.

Going on this trip will really turn you into a "driver" and really appreciate a "driver's car" if you weren't before then. i.e. drive to drive, take the long way home etc kind of guy.

Just one note, if you bring a second person, make sure they do like driving and road trips. It is a bit of a whirlwind. Also, they may want to bring some sea-sickness pills for very "spirited" drives such as the Monte Carlo Rally roads.

Oh and as for dressing up, do bring at least one set of nice clothes. Although BMW Canada will say no real need, some of the places you go to are pretty posh ( we stayed in a hotel where the Prince of Bavaria was staying ), and the rest of the M guys dress up, so out of a sign of appreciation I wish I had brought more "nicer" clothes.

The next M I buy I'll definitely be going on the tour, heard alooooot of good things by the people who have gone. They basically told me it's a must. Out of curiosity what is the cost per person or per couple?

So last year it was $6000 for each car ( maybe it was $5990 ), and you were allowed to bring a second person. So about $3000 ( all in ) each. You had to pay for your own airfare, but this included:
  • All meals
  • Drinks
  • Cigars ( we openned up the cigar room at one hotel )
  • Tolls
  • Ferrys
  • Hotels
  • Basically EVERYTHING

** it did not cover gas

The service is amazingly top notch. Where ever you go, no waiting, no lines and you never see the bill for anything. Wherever you go a few BMW reps would leave early to ensure that by the time you get there, they are ready to receive and direct you. i.e. really royal treatment when you get to a hotel. Checking in there is a reserved line for you if it's crowded and parking is usually pre-reserve spots out front or around a fountain so all passerbys can bask in the glory of the fleet of impressive BMW M cars.
