Yeah... nope! There's way too much required attention to detail for me to trust my dealer to care enough to make it perfect.

I was all in for this option but unless it's installed at the factory, I'm going to pass. Shame.

LOL @ 1m26s, that blue painters tape is going to protect the roof shoulder if the air chisel slips. In all honesty that looks like a major PIA and I actually feel bad for the workers. No way I'd do that to a new car, if you want to drop the center of gravity you're better off getting coil-overs and lower the cars ride height.

Exactly what I was thinking while watching it. There are so many things that can go wrong. Plain scary!

Nah I bet the car doesn't give a shit. It's painful for me. As Tag pointed out as well, if one of those tools slips during the process by accident and damages the car, I would be in pain, literally!

If not done to 100% perfection a CF roof will eventually start to leak so if it's not something you want to do to a daily driver. We get a lot of hail up here so cars with aluminum roofs usually require replacement over PDR. Mine leaked and others I know have had leaky roofs after getting them replaced.

It's 10-12 hours of labor so multiply that by what your shop of choice charges per hour and there's your price.

One slip of the air chisel, etc. no way. I'll be a poser and get the roof wrapped or painted or just do nothing.

If anyone is in plan to install CF roof either the genuine BMW MP part or RKP, I would suggest to visit and get it done from recommended shops from iND.

I would certainly not gonna get this done from dealer either unless installed from factory.

I would do it, but $1,295 for the part plus around $1,700 for labor or $3k total just doesn't seem worth it to save 10lbs. It does look sharp, though.

So does some flat black wrap and that's only $100.

I'd also be concerned about the corrosion where all the factory paint/sealant was compromised.
