I am surprised at the results. I thought it would be closer to 50/50.

Still torn what to do myself. Had a vote on my Youtube channel, Glenns Car Collection, like this pool, most are saying its not worth selling my M2 plus $20k to get the new M2 Competition.

Well does it have anything you actually want?

For me there are features on the M2C that I want and I don't think the next G series M2 is something I rather have. My hesitation is it probably just doesn't make financial sense for me to trade up.

I think it may be because there is a mixture of people who have 16-17 year model M2's and some 18 model owners. The financial hit wouldn't be too bad for early M2 buyers like yourself, but for those of us with later models it can be.

Whatever you decide, I'll be watching.

This sums it up for me, as well.

Really love my M2... plus, can't get Mineral Gray anymore, plus... I've spent some serious $$$ to get it clear bra'd, and I'm sure I won't be getting that back when I sell it.

I plan to keep it a Loooong time! Just took it out with my teen age son... we did a few launch controls! What a blast! I hadn't done them before, as the car is only two months old, and I only recently had the 1200 mile service completed!

If any of you have the DCT and haven't tried Launch Control, you have GOT to give it a try! What a blast!!!

Only managed 5.08 seconds to 60, but it felt much faster! Have to play around with it somemore (I lowered the rpm's to 3,000.... have to see what times I get if I leave it at 4,000rmps, which is where it starts out at)

Glenn... love your videos! I'd love to see new videos with the M2C, but honestly, not sure if it's worth it to switch. I also am not convinced the exhaust sound from the new Competition is going to sound anywhere near as good as the M2's sound. Guess we'll find out!

I am ready for a newer model now.

I'm in the same boat, maybe even worse as I have only had my car for just over 6 months. Contemplating to trade up but in the end, the thought of how much of a hit I'd take keeps me from pulling the trigger, at least for now. Maybe wait out till next year for MY20 and see then. I'm sure many of us could trade up if we wanted to, just wouldn't be the best decision financially. In the mean time I'm adding things here and there to my current M2.

I've had a great many, too, and several fantastic BMWs. This isn't one of them, though the chassis and engine are lovely. I stayed away from the brand for many years and the M2 lured me back. Sadly, I doubt I'll be back again.

Well... The interior has a lot weird shapes and angles that I find displeasing, the fit and finish is exceptionally poor, the infotainment screen is too pronounced and in my face, the collision assistance system (or whatever it's called) defaults to 'on', the driving position is too high, the car feels like a CUV, and the DCT is terrible and different for the sake of being different.

The car as a whole makes me think it's geared toward 20-somethings. It's rowdy and chock full of tech crap that need not be in a car. The car would have been amazing to me 15 years ago. Now I'm going to back to Porsche. It was my mistake for straying, and literally every other car for the past several cars has been a 911. I've had five, and they're the only cars that I seem to go back to. They do everything the M2 does, but without the drama of noise and weird styling. Maybe I'm getting too old.
so... to sum up.... you've never driven a 2 series ?

Are you looking at a Porsche SUV?
It's crazy how many Boxster/Cayman/911 owners outright gawk at my M2.

Clearly it has wide appeal.

And it delivers to.

Tell the dealer when the car comes in you'll do a featured review on it, and IF you fall in love with it maybe you'll buy it !! Maybe...

I voted no.

I voted no, mostly because it doesn't make good financial sense to trade in a MY18 car that I'll have owned less than a year.
But partly because the M2C isn't that different.
Styling is pretty much unchanged... all but the most enthusiastic wouldn't notice differences. Yeah, even the grilles & mirrors.
The bump in performance is certainly nice, but mine has plenty of power for a DD. The seats look nicer, but not enough to warrant a change. S55 vs N55 doesn't matter to me as I don't track it & don't plan on mods under the hood.

I'm curious to see what people will actually be paying for one. A local dealer has my same car (except it's AW instead of LBB), equipped identically listed for $65k. I bought mine there for MSRP.

I would imagine ordering one would be at MSRP. Once the configurator is up on bmwusa I plan to spec one out just to see what the delta is, but no intention of acting. I'm approaching 10k miles & just love the commutes. Oh, and the weekend getaways!

I've had mine for only 6 months, so I am just getting started like you are.

All I know is it will keep the demand for the OG M2 high and resale up accordingly.

For me the increase in performance would have to be pretty dramatic to offset the styling changes. So far I'm extremely happy with my LCI. It just feels like a BMW should, to me anyway. Although I think my M2 has a decent amount of torque, more is always welcome. So if the performance difference between the LCI and the Comp is substantial over a broad RPM range, and I've had a chance to see an M2C in person I would likely go for it. Wouldn't necessarily trade the LCI though.

I just purchased my M2 a few days ago. Before then, I was in this constant debate about whether or not to wait for the the M2C and spec it out, pay the extra 10k markup and wait a good 9 months before the car arrives; or to get a M2 Shadow Black Edition for 57 OTD.

It was a no brainer for me at that point. I love the balance of the M2, not saying the M2C isn't going to be worth it.

May sound stupid, but I probably would upgrade if it had a 360 degree camera and blind spot monitoring - features I find useful (in addition to the upgrades already coming on the M2C).

I bought my 2018 thinking it might be my last MT car as manufacturers phase out that technology so having the upgraded engine and other goodies for the long term appeals to me. But seems like BMW will keep the MT option for at least another generation so I’ll hold out and see what happens (and maybe give the new M3/M4 a serious look).
