You will need to upgrade to the iPhone 11 or Samsung Galaxy 10 to retain functionality :-)

Nope, will be defunct. But I heard that it may still work on the pre-QNX Blackberry OS.

I heard it will cost 20% more than the existing app and won’t sound as good - but you’ll be able to get it in a couple of new colors.

Also, you will be able to code out rev matching from your phone, so it will be worth the added cost

Don't forget you can also press the Voice Control button on the steering wheel and say something like 'Sport Displays On' or 'Go Home' to navigate back to your house if you've programmed in your address.

The M2 Competition gets an all-new driving mode button. Gotta admit that we, the N55 people, feel a little bit jealous.

Radio buttons are touch sensitive!

Anyone else noticed this? You can run your finger lightly over the buttons to see what the presets are, without actually changing channel. Well, it's news to me, anyway!

Yup, nothing new. They've been like that in every F series car since 2013 I think. Maybe even earlier.

They are actually shortcuts.

I have my favorite nav points saved (like home, work) as well as the sport displays and TPMS.

Shortcut buttons

There are 8 buttons at the top of the console. They are supposed to be shortcuts, like the station presets for radio, except that they can shortcut many (not all) iDrive functions.
For example, I was able to store Tire Pressure Display, but Trip Computer failed to store.
How does one know what can and cannot be stored as a shortcut? Is there a list?

Absolutely Correct !!

I use #1 to shut off my iDrive Screen.

I found with some features you need to highlight the menu item and then hold down the button to set it, Sport displays works this way. If you try to save them when they are up on screen it says that feature can not be saved. Instead navigate through the menus to where you would launch the sport display and instead of clicking them, you just highlight the feature and then hold down the preset button.

Other features you can save with them displayed on screen, for example I have my number 1 set to the gps nav zoomed in to a specified distance in perspective mode, that way I can zoom out to see way ahead or navigate to any other menu and then I can hit number 1 to return to my nav screen at my preferred distance and view settings. To save this you just zoom your nav to where you like it and then hold the desired button.

Worth a shot to try both methods and see what works

I might start a new thread for this. What other useful shortcuts did you guys save? I use mine for radio station but I really only need four, there are not many good stations in the city.

Oil level check, tire pressure and weather forecast is all I have for now. May add sport displays and try the map zoom.

Will see if I can set one to toggle between full and split view.
