I have a 2018. Does not save.

I thought I was the only one. I was wondering if coding had something to do with it.

Yep I too have a 2018 and it does not save.

As discussed bizarrely resets to "4 mph" and "off" at the start of every drive as far as I can tell.

In all honesty every new drive is an adventure for me so I would never really use the same speed warning twice. What I have done is put it as a preset so if I ever need it it's just one button push away. Works fine for me this way.

Ok. Had it updated today in the dealer. Still doesn’t save. I’ll push it back to them, so at least BMW can be made aware. I bet it’s just one faulty line of code.

Frankly, unless it works as (from what I hear) the Tesla's work, it's practically useless to me.

The Tesla's allow you to have a warning sound if you exceed the posted speed limit by X miles.

Now THAT would be useful!

Being the M2 displays the posted speed limit (may be a paid option, but...), it would be simple to change the code to sound a warning when you're above that number.

For anyone where yours works as it’s meant to, can you put in your idrive version (Go to your map, hit the option button > nav settings > position and software version > software version). Thanks!

I brought this up with my dealer at a service appointment last week. The tech was able to reproduce this time (last time he couldn't).

The steps seem to be (this is a bit fuzzy):

- Set the speed warning
- Put the car to sleep (In my case I just waited a few hours)
- Turn it on and drive. At some point it will reset.

they filed a puma case and apparently BMW told them that this is working as intended.

I'm not sure what to do next, I think I'll try to contact BMW somehow.

I gave up, if I'm honest. I had the car flashed to the latest software, and it didn't fix it. It's clearly a software issue, so I didn't pursue it any further. May mention it again at the oil change in 14k miles.

I’m just kidding
I know you're joking, but I always set it to the speed limit of my tires, when I'm using my winter setup.

My winter tires are only H speed rated, which is 130MPH. Not legal, but certainly not difficult to hit on an open empty road in this car. So in case my right foot gets a little overzealous, this prevents me from ruining one or more tires.

Mine worked for about 6/7 months and then just mysteriously shut off one day...I haven't reset it...instead I just keep the large digital speedo on the cluster.

I too have an LCI, mine works fine even I coded a lot of things. I can turn it on and off through iDrive settings and it's saved. It's camera/GPS based if I remember correctly. I keep it on all the time but am sort of ignoring it. It always shows 20 mph speed limit on school zones no matter what time of the day, what day of the week, or even on weekends.

The setting in idrive where if you exceed a specific speed you get a sound and message saying you have exceeded your speed.

My old BMWs did but my M2 won't.

I coded my car when I got it so I was trying to see if I messed something up.

Thanks for your help.

M2C saves, I set it for the highest speed possible, 280something km/h, I have yet to hear the pesky thing go off!
