Key fob

I know it's trivial, but what does the key fob for the M2 look like?

I drove a friends X6M recently and noticed it was a unique fob. I was wondering if the 'baby M' received the same...

Not trivial at all. Like you, I think the M2 is a special car and was hoping for a nice key fob to match it.

Unfortunately we're stuck with the bog standard BMW fob. I'm planning to get a nice case for it though.

The 320i fob is 3 1/8" long x 1 5/8" wide x 5/8" tall.

8cm x 4cm x 1.6cm!

So yes, same as the 320i key, definitely bigger than the 135i (or 1M I had).

Haven't used it, but I think "Panic" is just holding down the trunk release button. I know that's what it is on my E92 M3... Because on THAT car, "Panic" mode activated like 1 nanosecond after the trunk releases. If you aren't paying close attention, you trigger the alarm. *sigh*

They need to come out with a new key. This one is too big. Mercedes' new key is awesome.

I would be happy without a panic button. I lean against things sometimes with my keys in my pocket and the silly alarm goes off.

Does anyone know if an M key fob can be purchased and programmed for the car.

I'm sure there cost would probably be insane, if so.

Wish they used the X5 metal key fob instead of the crappy 2/3 series ones.

Anyone know how easy it is to pull that decorative edge? If easy, I'm going to pull mine out and paint it LBB.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think that if you dont get the confort access the key has a blue ring. One reason more to pass the confort access

I would think it would be similar to the other f series cars. I have an F30 335i right now here is a pic of the key.

Doh. It does have panic button. It's the E92 that doesn't. Sorry.

Left to Right (US Market Answers)
Blue = M-Performace Car (M235i) or M Line car (Wife's 328i Sport Wagon with M-Line Package)

Red = Sport Line Car (My Friends 228i Sport Line Package)

Silver = M Car, My F80 and soon my F87

Beige = No idea (Something boring...)

Black only = Base no Line Car.
