I personally hope manufacturers move away from limited production cars and sell as many as they can and only have them be limited due to natural sales. Two icons of modern motoring...the McLaren F1...106 produced and the Ferrari F40...1311 produced and these cars were never limited production...Ferrari and McLaren sold as many as they could. And that's the way it should be in my humble opinion of course.
Mine will not.. thank you very much.

I personally know of two M4 GTS owners that track their vehicles ..

There are at least 3-4 M4 GTS owners using and they are in these forums.(not being the two that I know) and use theirs as a daily driver and or track vehicle.

PS... I am the OWNER of a Limited production vehicle. Only 740 made. and my car isn't in a museum either..

I got my 1M by reading the tea leaves and not just sitting and waiting for " official confirmation from BMW like GimmeanM
That's the way it should be...my M Coupes get driven as the BMW God's intended. Wish more people would do that. Cheers!

Calling BS on money down for CS in March 2016. You probably initially told your dealer you wanted a non-existent, potentially upcoming "lightweight" CSL model. Then you changed your order when that was not forthcoming.

This. The GTS will be an auto tranny, so I'll stick with the 6MT CS.

Good learning lesson for you. Best to research such things before getting into a new car. Owner costs are to be expected but what you learn over time with Porsches is that while they are way more practical than Ferraris and Lambos, they are nowhere near as practical as Ms.

True to a degree, though it depends on the reviews. I think this is dead on with the M4 GTS. But my bet is that the M2 GTS reviews will be better, mostly because the M2 is smaller, lighter, nimbler and the engine upgrade will be greater.

I would imagine this is what most of us expect (though maybe you were being sarcastic). I hope the CS is manual only. Though this is unlikely, it would make it more special. This was certainly the case with the GT4.

I agree; and this is consistent with my previous comment.

I had a snarky response ready but then saw your follow-up post. Pretty funny. Good luck to both of us.

I became #1 on my dealer's list for "M2 CS/CSL" in July of 2015. Call BS as loud as you like, I won't hear you.

Am I the only one wondering if this these moves GTS/S55/etc.. are being made in part for homologation to set the stage for the M2 racecar as a successor to the M6?!?!?

(strictly off the top of my head) The timing seems to fit similar to the E9x M3/E89 racecars.

I work for a center, so that should be said. When I saw initial rumors back in May 2016 I put my name on the list and I was the first to do so. It was not for a M2CSL or otherwise, but rather a 'Special Edition' M2. No money was put down at that time. There are probably 6 or 7 people on our list now, not sure.
I'm also pretty sure I'm not an idiot, although I could be wrong on that. I was also reading the tea leaves, @M3Adjuster My comments towards 'waiting for official announcement' were not in regards to purchasing, but rather towards how it was going to be equipped. I didn't see the point in going back and forth and guessing on all of the details when the reality is very few people here are actually in the know. ...just waiting to see how it's all going to unfold; MT/DCT/CS/CSL/GTS/$80K/$100K...and so on.

Not sure where all the aggression is coming from?

I tried for Euro delivery since I anticipated summer 2018/19 for delivery, but that sounds like a no go. I'm at least getting it at MSRP, and I think that will end up being a win.

Yes While all the HP and higher torque is needed to distance itself from the very capable M240- I am waiting for an update to the dreadful Idrive MMI.
Germans and their software... wayyy to many steps to achieve simple tasks, voice command is hit and miss at best (some of you will say it works all the time some will say rarely) and then i was just told by my BMW dealer (they tried to make it work) that the BMW app on my iphone will not connect to my 435 GC- again "sometimes it just doesn't work with certain cars..." What BS on a 70k car! If only BMWs electronics can work as well as the 2015 Dodge RAM that my daughter has and the 2016
KIA that one of my employees have.

Oh and the sound system in all 2,3,4 series suck- I had to throw that in too.

oh wait.. I see you have an M2 on order... you better CANCEL that and wait for the M2 ZCP because the M4 ZCP is getting WAY better reviews than the M4 !

Are you referring to Tesla ??

BMW dealership deposits are refundable- even on non existent cars. So who does it hurt to take a deposit ? :

There is pretty much 0.0% chance of this being the case.

They wouldn't race the M4 in GT4, and the M2 in GT3 - if the engine is up to it, they'd already be racing the M4 in GT3.

The M6 GT3 is likely to be replaced by whatever they use for the WEC next year - the mostly likely rumour on that, is it will be an 8 Series...

I also can't seem them confusing the message of the M235iR cup car by having a top line 2 series racer as well.

I am not sure that any of this counts as solid evidence but there was a post in 2er talk that someone saw the M2 CS test mule outside the BMW Garching plant. The interior was completely covered but it did have a manual transmission.

Does the S55 make the same sound rising the gas pedal (0m28s/1m06s in the video)? It's very similar to the N55. Ok, in acceleration it is evident that is not the N55. Could be the B58?

By creating a m2gts BMW will destroy the m4gts. Heck even the m2cs will destroy the m4cs or m4 comp- why make this with the s55?? Are they trying to get rid of the m4? I like the m2 but the interior was ridiculously cheap......but with this engine upgrade I'm sure that won't matter.

Only thing m4 will be good for is for leather seats...

What makes you say that? Just because it has the same engine doesn't mean it'll have the same output, nor has it been confirmed that the GTS (if there is such a thing) will get a water injection system.

There are plenty of ways to "neuter" a car. Look at the GT4. They cranked that 3.8L engine way down.
