I love the M2, and "like" the aggressive look, especially in view of the ridiculously bland 235 (while many hated the 1er, I prefer it to the look of the 2, at least the 1 has some character).

But I don't know, I'm not sure I could call the M2 a good looking car with a straight face. I like it, but it's not exactly pretty.

I can't agree BMW "nailed it". To me, they clearly could have done better. I've talked to a lot of people who really wanted to love the M2, but can't get over the styling. I can, of course.

I don't care what numbers it puts up I'd never buy that car. Never. I know it's the same car but to my eyes they aren't even related. Yes subjective but my 2 cents.
Agreed. Except it's not the same car. The suspension alone makes the M2 a much different animal.

In my view, they nailed the rear pretty darn well. The front has grown on me.

But I'm mostly about the ass anyway, visually speaking. Look at my cars--Jag XKR, Porsche 930, and now the M2--all different asses, but all rock. The ass matters, across the species, living and inanimate!!

I mentioned in a previous post that the designers "nailed it". Well, allow me to backtrack a bit. Compared to the F80, the F87 does not compare. The designers took the pedestrian F30 and transformed it into a heartthrob in the F80. They took the F23 and performed magic whereby turning the 2 series into an overachiever in the F87.

I agree with this save for the fact the same isn't necessarily true with the F82. The other issue with F80 for me is the size. It's a touch oversized for my taste.

Probably in the same way it doesn't excessively bother M240i guys that, for practically the same price, they could have held out for the all-around better M2. I'd be kicking myself. -scr

Ummm, it's a sedan! Of course its a little big

It is pretty darn nice looking for a sedan, I will grant you. Maybe not as sexy as the Quattrofromage (oops, I mean Quattroporte) but more masculine... and better than that godawful Panamera.

I do like the M2 styling very much! I know everything is subjective, but this hit it just right for me. Will have to visit mine it its little hibernation cocoon this weekend

I guess the large groups of people wanting to photograph my M2 at cars and coffee in a parking lot full of Lambos, Ferraris and a beautiful Maserati were just trying to record the ugliness for posterity.

I should mention that I didn't go to show my car, my kid's been bugging me to go for ages and as part of a New Year resolution to work a bit less and do more family stuff, I took him, parked wherever we could find and returned to find a throng of people checking it out. Highly recommend going to one.

I love the look of the car. It's even better in the flesh than in photos. It has such a great form following function look, like an HF Integrale. If anything, I wish they hadn't bothered to smooth out the flared wheel arches and let them look more boxy.

It looks like it only has a single exhaust pipe, I'm betting there are 2 (one either side) it's just the light but there is not 4. I would hedge my bets this may have the m140i engine. And giving the fact that the m140i is shotgun here could we be seeing the first comparisons of the two cars with the same engines?

It has 2 pipes on either side if you look close enough. This just is an N55 M2 in 'disguise' because this video was taken summer 2015(not 16) when the M2 wasn't even out in public(october 15 as I recall?)

Cool, I obviously never had the contrast or brightness to see that.
