I must be in the minority, but I find the M2 to be the ugliest BMW in production. All of the amazing technical specs cannot help me get past the horrible shape of the car.
Looking at the car from the side, the lines look too simple and the front part of the car feels too short. Looking at the car from the front is actually the best possible angle, although the front bumper is just vulgar in my opinion; feels like I'm looking at a ricer's attempt to "improve" the M4 front bumper. From the rear the car is at its ugliest, the rear bumper is a complete disaster. Even if I was gifted the car, I would sell it immediately. Perhaps I'm starting my transformation into an old grumpy man at age 32... |

I really detest the black wheels, but that is really an easy fix.
The lines of the car (other than the lower front bumper, sorry) are really ideal. Classic BMW I cannot wait to see one of these at a cca hpde at watkins glen. New track, new car! Hopefully we will get high production numbers to run the prices down for the used market (and maybe an e90 M3 in my driveway as well... who am I kidding Im a cheap fuck).

German factory workers look clean cut and happy. How do the domestic lines in the US look these days?

Reading the technical innovations on the DCT for the new M2 it seems some of the predictive software on gear selection is newly released on the M2. And this will make the M2 feel very dynamic, even compared to the M3/M4. And certainly faster than the E92 M3.
The manual will also bear rev match and a sump on the tranny... And the predictive algorithm there will facilitate gear selection and application during hard driving. And so, I would venture to state it appears the M2 will feel very tight on the road. As such, the car will feel small and very nimble to accelerate off a start or tight corners. This is my impression from reading those lines. I do not think the lack of M3 mirrors is a bad thing. It saves cost. And this adds value elsewhere in the M2. Whoever is hung up on this can buy those tiny M mirrors on some race cars (from E46?) and put them on instead. And no the M2 is not ugly. It IS beautiful. I really want one of these cars. In any color.... |

I Have spoken to somebody at Orange County BMW in Monroe, NY and while not on any sort of official "list" he did say that if I wanted the first one, it's mine.
