A test drive of an M235 or M 240 would be a good alternative and will certainly rule out anyone that has issues with interior or the overall vehicle size/number of doors |

Pretty tough to get a test drive in an M2 unless you can find a used one or have a great relationship with the dealer. If you can get a test drive it won't probably tell you much that you don't already know. If you want to experience the M2 in a real way drop a few bucks and do the M school.

Once you drive an M2 at the M school you will need to have one. Just saying! I own an M235i and there is huge difference in how they drive. Not so much the power, though the M2 feels faster, but really the biggest difference is the handling and of course the lovely exhaust sound of the M2. Gone is the understeer and numb steering feel, replaced by great steering feel and handling that is like it is on rails and will never spin out or understeer. Just amazing.

lax01, sign up for the M school and go in with an open mind. Worst case scenario you'll get a very thorough test drive; one you could never do at a dealership. You'll have fun either way! Best case scenario you will be surprised at how immediately you can push this car as hard as you want and you will fall in love with it. Kind of a win-win, no?

I believe it was New Century BMW in Alhambra and Centrr BMW in Sherman oaks. He just bought the M2 he test drove yesterday from Sherman Oaks and said they had a MG M2 on the lot.

lax01: I recently did the half-day school at the Thermal track located near Palm Springs in Southern California. The very first drives of the day were with M2's on the North track (the shorter of the two tracks there). If you really wanted to, you could just leave after that initial session. I'm sure no one would stop you from doing so or even notice if you left. But you may as well stay so you can drive M3's on the other (longer and faster) track. Just as much fun. The M4, M5 and M6 stuff was the last part of the session.
