I hope that the N55 will help to keep the car price down. A 55K$ CAD M2 could be a very good value.

I've stopped worrying about what is under the hood - every M car has been something pretty special. I just hope it looks like the render.

Because that's exactly what happened with the 1M. It would be a shame if this is true...
This.
Why BMW, why do this to the people?

MEH. the 1M was more of an M car than the M3, imo....the spirit is more important than the criteria.

You've got your small in the m2
Medium in the m3/4
And large in m5/6

Couldn't they have made on model for the fans of NA engines?
A highly tuned 4 cyl engine in a light weight body?
With all the talk about how advanced BMW is with carbon fiber manufacturing
You'd think they could come up with some shared parts to make this happen
If you want a 4 cyl, it HAS to be turbocharged. You can't get enough performance from an NA 4 cyl. The last powerful/highly tuned NA engine was the 2.2L in the S2000 and that made 240hp. The M2 will need 350hp at least, so you would need a highly tuned NA 6cyl (unlikely), or N55 derived turbo 6 cyl, or all new turbo 4 cyl. The N55 is the cheapest option for BMW.

Not according to 95% of people. That statement was really dumb and I feel dumber having read it.

I can't point to the specifics, but IIRC the M brand manager spoke directly to this in interviews the past few years. Simply put, the cost/benefit + emissions requirements favors turbos going forward....

NA will ultimately be classics.

A glimmer of hope! I have faith in M, so now I'll just sit back and wait. This does make my current "M235i or F80 M3" internal debate more complicated as what I really want is an M2. Maybe I'll just try to take a deep breath and wait it out for six months or so.

who cares what "95% of people" think? Or maybe popular view is your only support......just because you have an M3 and want to negate other M cars like the 1M? nice try......

no need to douche up the conversation....you've made it much dumber.

Nimbleness, agility, always sufficient power on demand, a touch of lightness and swb , those things will make an M2 stand out, just like the 1M did and still does vs the bigger heavier other M cars. It certainly is about the spirit and not about criteria wether a 4 or a 6. I prefer a 6: the 1M is a fine example of what M can do.
True sportiness, not topheavy stuff
I want an M2 with a 6 inside.

Cheers
Robin
