Wow not bad at all, especially when considering FBO + Big Turbos for N55 might put you around $7-10k in parts alone. Good to know there's another pathway forward if the engine does blow!

I imagine you had to buy an exhaust, cats, etc. as well to fit it up to the S55? Was that included in the $14k figure?

Exhaust is a little weird running from vrsf catless downpipes to the AA single midpipe to my oem m performance muffler. All included in the $14k figure

awesome Build! Did u have to use a different ecu? When you say coding, do you mean due to new ecu or trying to make the n55 ecu work with the s55? Engine harness is the very minimal did you need anything else wiring related ?

Would love to have some technical info on what you used, I.e. swap over S55 ECM/CAS etc and change vin, or find a way to use the N55 ECM and wire it up to control the dual-pumps on s55 (supposedly possible).

I could see some more builds going this route as prices come down and limits continue to be pushed.

Thank you for posting it regardless.

I don’t see anyone actually doing this swap unless it is for a dedicated track car. Otherwise it is too expensive for very little gain.

Are you guys being intentionally obtuse or has the N55 sound leaked into your brains? He obviously wanted an engine that would hold the power level he is at for more than 10000 miles and have some head room for more. How is it "very little gain"?

His game is power, look at his previous mods, so it's natural that he chose the S55. B58 is superior in that endeavor, but I'm sure the S55 was a much cheaper option when he did the swap.

Do you mean the S58? The B58 is like the N55 in that it doesn't have the platform for huge power without lots of mods for heat etc.. The S55 is ready to go with a $500. flash tune at Stage 1 93 with no other alterations. Stage 2 with just adding downpipes. That's getting deep into the 500+ HP and torque.

Sorry, yes, S58.

B58 > N55 for power, but S58 > B58 for sure

Yeah, that's crazy cheap. It would have to be an incredible used engine deal and really cheap labor, maybe a lot of DIY stuff.

I have sold many s55 engines.
5.5k for complete s55, do you think 10k is not enough to do this job?

I would do jobs like this every mounth for 15k

In the US they seemed more expensive. Didn't think you could get a good S55 for even 10k.

Oh, I hadn't seen that it was US, I saw the D license plate and I thought it was made in Germany, so you're right, to that figure we need to add 10k as a minimum.
