2018 M2 To get or not to get Executive package?

Hey guys, just wanted your opinion about the executive package on the 2018 M2. Now that the backup camera comes standard and everything you pretty much need and want comes standard on the 2018.

The big question is... would you get the executive package for $1.5k knowing it doesnt really come with anything important except the fact that it will change the shape of your LED rings (angel eyes) to hexagon shape?! (think the high beam function doesnt work for U.S. so pretty much $1.5k for hex shaped LEDs). I live in California so dont need heated steering wheel either and who the hell cares what the speed limit is right?

Please let me know your thoughts, thanks! There's an allocation, I'm considering ordering one.

I believe you get the driver assistance package, which to me is worth it.

I was led to believe the big hitters in the exec pkg was driver assist, adaptive LED lighting, heated steering wheel and touch screen LCD.......but now I have heard the touch screen is std......

If there is nothing you want in the package don't get it. If there is something you want in the package then get it. The package is ridiculously cheap for what you get. Sounds like you want the hex lights so I would get the package. Those lights alone are worth more than the package price. It always shocks me to see this question for a super cheap package in a $60k car.

I primarily wanted the adaptive LED hex lights and backup sensors. I could have probably lived without the backup sensors but I didn't want to gamble not getting the adaptive lights as there were a few early orders that got them for free, aka without opting for the exec package. The other things that come in the package are a bonus.

I am also in SoCal and wont need the heated wheel, but if you care about resell value, the heated wheel will be appealing for those winter folk, even Norcal.

It’s $1,500 on a $60k+ car (after taxes).

I’m also in SoCal and have used my heated steering wheel and seats in past cars. October by the water is cold! I don’t care what any of my East Coast friends tell me!

I have heated seats in all my cars. You would appreciate it even here in Texas.

Personally, the headlights justify the $1,500 cost.

I think the headlight upgrade (adaptive LED and Auto High Beam) justify the added price. Plus, none of the options in the Exec Pack add any appreciable weight (unlike the DCT and moon roof options), so there is little downside from a performance standpoint. The upside is better visibility at night and arguably enhanced resale value.

my 2 cents...

Yeah - I gotta wonder if the people that discount the value of a heated steering wheel have ever actually tried one. I would have been in that camp myself before trying one.

I'm in SoCal too, and I love the heated steering wheel. Use it often in the non-summer months. First time I had one, I got it just because it made the steering wheel fatter (2006 550i - weird that it made it fatter, but true) - didn't think I'd ever use the heating feature. But after trying it, I found I really really like it. I use it much more often than I do the heated seats.

The consensus here is to get the package but I will offer a different take which is the route I took. I chose to only option anything that offered performance gains so I specified DCT and will have the MP suspension installed at the dealer as I don't think they offer it as a port installed option anymore. If the exec pkg offered any cosmetic benefits I would have specified that as well but I didn't have a preference on hexs vs circles, they both look good IMO. I left the moonroof off as well. If I could have, I would've optioned out of the nav if it I had to pay for it since it will be outdated in 5 years. Luxury was never part of the equation for me.

people go so bananas over led lights you might as well get them as it probably makes up the cost in resale value.

All of the lights are LED for the 2018.
It's just that the Exec package gets the hex shaped "angel eyes" and the LEDs can "turn" left & right which the standard ones won't do.

This is a feature change from the 2017, where all cars (regardless of exec package) had turning Xenon HIDs.

I'm tempted to get, just to get it. All the functionality and add ons for 1500 seems like a no brainer.

Well here is a twist...a friend of mine just put in an order for a 2018 and it was accepted. No exec package but his order clearly says 552 Adaptive LED Headlights N/C

Actually all options are listed as N/C below that he has that are not on mine that has the exec pkg

552 Adaptive Headlights
6NS Enhanced USB and Bluetooth
8S4 Variable Light Decoding

So are all the peeps that don't pay for the exec pkg still getting the new headlights? If so then that kills the "early production mistake" error

Not all are getting the Adaptive LED Headlights without ordering the Executive Package, but many are. Since there was a long wait between deliveries of Week 27-28 cars and the Week 32-33 cars that are now arriving at dealers, the sample size has been pretty small. But you're the second person today who has confirmed a new order on a non-EP car with the 552s.

No real need. That's exactly how my original order looked, I added the exec package anyways because cheap and I'm not a gambler. The adaptive LED headlights on non-exec cars has been discussed ad nauseam.

If the hex headlights are standard, the only thing attracting me to the exec is wireless charging.
