My number is up! Should I get the M2 now or wait?
Hi Everyone,
I test drove the M2 last year at an event and I was instantly in love with it. After that experience, I went straight to my local dealer and put my name on the M2 list. My dealer informed me that I have moved up the M2 list and my number is up to order the M2 as part of the October allocation. The car should be here by December - January time frame. I do want to get this car badly but I am not sure if I should wait till January 2018 or get it right now? I've been reading the forums/online that we will get more insight into the M2 CS pricing, build and so on in early 2018. Therefore, is it worth waiting for the M2 CS or for any other M2 LCI upgrades? If M2 CS is going to be significantly higher in price compared to the standard M2, then I will skip the CS and go for the standard one. My budget is around $65-68K at max. I'm looking for a daily driver and a fun car. Also how hardcore is the M2 CS going to be compared to the M2 LCI? Will it have aluminium panels? CF roof? much more stiffer ride and things like that? I'm guessing that the price will be at least $10K higher than the standard one. Please advise.

Are you on any list for the CS with hope of getting one?
I'm #5 at my dealer (a medium sized store) so even though he told me he'd get me one, I'm not so sure unless people in front drop out. I vote for getting the bird in hand. |

M2 is such a good value if you intend to go with manual. I sold my first M2 in manual & now is thinking about getting the 2nd one again. although this time in DCT only because wife can drive it as it would be her primary car. Also consider 440GC but M2 value is hard not to think about.
Get it. it's great & priced right. |

Is your max OTD (with tax, title, etc.)? If so you're already at or near your max with just the regular M2 depending on trans/options. As for your other questions, no one knows. As far as I know BMW hasn't released any info on the CS. The only thing that can probably be answered confidently is that it will 100% have a stiffer ride. |

Mintoo, personally I wouldn't pass on an LCI October allocation.
Especially with little insight on the CS.

You’re going to wait for a still unconfirmed car? One that the limited quantity rumors keep getting louder every single day.
Leipzig can barely pump out 2,000 M2s a month so how many CSs are they going to be able to make? Sure they are dumping a ton of money into the place but that won’t be ready anytime soon. The CS will be 10x harder to get and at least $10k more expensive if the “performance package” is anything to go by. And that’s before dealer “market adjustment”. I’d also love to see how the dealers are going to handle the “MSRP agreements” for the theoretical CS if allocations are extremely limited. As soon as the CS is confirmed and is limited there’s going to be a lot of drama. |

Unless I missed a thread, the pricing of the CS is still up in the air. I think a $10K premium is a pipe dream. It will be $15K premium over the base M2 at an absolute MINIMUM. S55 will dictate $8K of that, over and above what was charged for the "performance edition" ($6K?), as well as what ever other goodies or changes they add to that for the CS... and if DCT only, that is another price hit as well as a really big loss IMHO. Perhaps I am biased in hoping that the CS won't trash my resale (not that I am selling) - but I think I am on pretty solid ground that it will not for the reasons above. Get the M2! Unless you track you will never be pushing the limits of this car. I think the CS will be a track beast, and perhaps bragging rights in the parking lot, but little driving advantage at street level. Plus, still unclear if they can fix the S55 exhaust sound issue Regular M2 sounds awesome! |

Slim chance $68k budget buys you a CS. I'd jump all over the October allocation you have available now.

Why wait for a car that doesn't exist that you probably can't afford?

Well, I can afford an M3 but that is what I set apart for a fun daily driver. I am also planning to get the BMW 540i on the side for my wife.

My dealer said that he can also get me an allocation in Dec-Jan 2018 time frame as well. So maybe I will wait till then and make an informed decision. He has not clue about the M2 CS/GTS at this point.

There is no chance anyone is going to get a CS for 68k. There are no more LCI changes scheduled for the M2 under this model number so I wouldn't wait around, take the car you can have and enjoy now.

I think the make or break for the M2 CS is the pricing. The M2 pricing, at its current state, is such a good bargain. I understand GT350, Vette and other people may argue this, but its a true to form M car...I think the CS might lose that value...but that's just up to me.
