The car has arrived. Just saw it at my local dealer today. Now should I buy is the question.

I'd personally never own a performance-oriented FWD car, as it seems like a waste.

Not too shabby for the city and some light freeway driving.

I have not driven either, but the reviews for the Civic Type R have been quite good and it is reported to be more user friendly as a daily driver than the Focus RS. You can only know if you are good with the FWD by test driving and what you have driven in the past. I applaud both the Type R and the RS for coming exclusively with a manual transmission. When I originally found out the M2 with a manual transmission saved $2900, I was even more convinced it was the car for me. Be sure they are really selling for sticker because there are reports of markups:

"That's right -- what should cost $33,900 could cost $43,900. There are reports coming from the CivicX forum, where a number of users are calling dealerships for estimates, that market adjustments might be as high as $15,000 in certain areas. That's BMW M2 money, for a Honda. "

Some dealers are marking up the Civic Type R by $10,000 or more

Seen up to 25k markup

I desisted the idea of a GT350 because they had a 15k markup which then went to 5k and I still said no to my local dealer..

They are horrible and trying to maximizing ADM. I was on a first to call list to see the car but have my MSRP deposit at another dealer which pushed me from #2 to #3 and not sure what is going on.

I'm not helping that dealer if you were planning to pay markup sorry.

I would really like to meet in person whoever spends 60k on a Civic, paying 25k of "adjusted market value"... maybe he'll also buy an used pair of socks for 1k

A hard core honda lover who gets caught up with the hype and has money to burn. He could justify it as still cheaper than an M3 and GTR. lol

WHAT? $25,000 markup on a basically $25,000 car? Oh well, I guess there is a nut out there with a lot of cash to spend! There are just too many better cars in that price range. I was looking at a loaded Mustang 350GT and they were asking a 25k markup. I think they got $15k from someone. Just crazy. Adjusted Market Value, right.. I wish I could do that for appendectomies on Christmas day......

seems like 95% of the dealerships are adding markups above $10k. this hype should die down.

it's a $35k car. not that $15k ADM isn't crazy. at $35k this car is a good deal I believe.

Meh, it's an econobox. 35K is kind of nuts as it is. Same for Focus RS. I can't believe I almost bought one

Come on. A Civic Si (nice car for its price, don't get me wrong) is about $25k or so. You can spend 5 grand on that and improve suspension and increase output to match the factory version of the R and still have cash left over. The R at 10 k more than the Si plus any markup is just insane. If you start with a 330i and add mods you can match the M3 but end up spending about the same as buying the M3 in the first place. With this Super Civic the price difference is just insane. You could find a used Acura NSX and put the money into restoring it and end up with a much better car for less!
