The reason it's minimal on the F8x platform is because those cars have primary and secondary cats (4 in total). We (M2's) just have one. If you modify it it's very noticeable. a lot of folks don't want a straight piped exhaust from the turbo back. Once that exhaust valve opens you're bypassing the muffler altogether and it gets crazy loud:

It's gonna sound amazing but he'll probably have drone at highway cruising speeds due to the muffler delete. If he had gone with a catless dp and was straight piped entirely it would be deafening, as you can see here at the 6min mark:

I think OP made the right call with the sport cat for sure. Especially if it's a DD.

side note for the OP, I drive by Lake Elsinor all the time when I go to Pechanga. Next time I roll through ill try to shoot you a buzz and we can maybe meet up. I have a fully modded M4 would be a cool little photo shoot and video of the two
Shoot me a text or PM (40884018two1) Definitely in for a photoshoot also, let's get one scheduled!

I went with the catted downpipe because most M2 guys seem to be having limp mode issues or similar with catless downpipes even with tunes. Should pick up about 10whp/20wtq with this combo.

It's just a generic mic off amazon it was 12.99 and I hooked it up to my gopro. Bought a cattail to help with wind noise.

Updated original post with a cold start video WITH the downpipe installed. Will have a driving video up in the next few days. I will say the exhaust sounds absolutely sinister with the downpipe and has brutal backfires. Sounds like a M1 Garand going off behind the car.

Sounds nice! But I was never a fan of the split tip exhaust. Little of an eye sore for me.

Nobody is trying to convince you otherwise. You should just be aware that some people have different preferences than you do. Having owned an e46m3 that had stock cats, a full bolt on 335i that was catless and now an M2 that is sport catted, i can definitively say i prefer the balance of a sport cat. I've been at both the all or nothing stages. And i like the middle.

Agreed. There's nothing wrong with the fabspeed option. Extremely high quality and no cel"most of the time". I'm catless and would do something similar to this or the Dinan res delete in a heart beat, if I still wanted a cat to remain legal in a stricter state.

For those looking to save some money and make actual gains vs stock, the catless option on the fantastic stock catback is amazing. Put that money into brakes and suspension fun. Or do this, because this sounds great too

Cold start video sounds epic

I'm still hesitant on these new Turbo cars, the farts really don't do it for me. It makes the car sound like it's choking/vomiting at that point when it is rev'd. The driving video sounds fantastic. Love the subtle burbles and pops.

Overall great sound though. Much more throaty.

I am still baffled by the idea that this forum supports this vendor in any way, shape, or form after they sold fake eisenmann exhausts through the use of this site and its supported vendors.

I frankly don't care if it is a quality product now. Knowingly screwing over a community of enthusiasts, you deserve to have logical consequences to your actions.

In a way, it is "choking" at that point. The idea is to keep the turbo spinning during a shift or, in the sportier driving modes, right after you lift off the throttle so when you get back on the throttle, you don't have to wait as long for the turbo to spin back up. This happens in a few different ways depending on the specific BMW engine but the idea is to keep the throttle open and the wastegate closed (or partially closed) so exhaust gasses keep spinning the turbo without putting out too much torque to abuse the transmission, clutch etc. during the shift.
