M2 CSL Waitlist

How many of you are on a M2 CSL/GTS waitlist of some sort?

If so, are you on an official list? Or just an, "indication of interest" if a potential list is created down the road (upon official announcement of the car)? Did you have to put a deposit down?

Thanks

How can someone be on a list for a car that doesn't exist?

If (and I mean IF) BMW releases this car, it will be like getting the M4 GTS. Only a select, hand picked, group of customers will get it and they will go through an application process. Those customers will be the top customers at the larger BMW dealers. A "list" won't matter much.

All just my opinion but if we can talk about being on a list for a car that likely won't be built, then I can speculate that it will be $125,000US and VERY limited production.

I'm putting my name on my dealer's list just in case I'm wrong

I decided to give up on this unicorn several months ago.

Not because it might not exist but the reality is, it still won't be the Vision GT Concept and will only get 2 seats.

I guess then I will ask what is the downside of getting on a list if it doesn't cost a penny and a dealer will add you?

What's the worst that could happen, you won't get the car? Then you'd be the same off as if you never put yourself on a list. Doesn't sound so bad?

Get on list everyone!

I completely agree... no downside other than a bit of a waste of time but that's nothing. If it turns out to be available and something that is actually able to be purchased by anyone who signs up first, you win!

why didn't you get a new car in 2013? Must have been a tough year

No... just how the model year timing went. I actually had my M4 for two years as well! I'll do better going forward

You'll have to throw them a refundable $500 or something nominal but that's about it. I'm on a list for an RS3 sedan (2017), M2 GC (2020) and maybe an R4 that Audi was supposed to build years ago that never happened. I should check my records on that!

When you guys get your receipt make sure it's marked refundable at custkmer's sole discretion and deal at or below MSRP or something to that effect. Not bullet proof but better than nothing.

Just dropped into the dealer today and confirmed I'm #2 for any M2 variant that drops. I've confirmed this in writing.

Registered interest with sales advisor on the off chance. No "list" as it won't be first come first served if its a limited run. People who think letters of intent and places on the list still apply for this type of car are sadly mistaken. Dealers, if they even get allocations, will give places to customers who make them the most money even if they appeared last minute. So unless you're one of them, you'll probably be out of luck. Dealers taking deposits for this type of product are being disingenuous, no more, no less. They probably think they can coerce you into moving the deposit over to a different car when they are unable to give you a build slot.

If however it happens and is not a limited run (unlikely) then who knows.

There are people that bought the M4 GTS at MSRP that never bought a BMW before.

Such defeatist attitudes around here.

I was offered one at MSRP from a dealer I never purchased a car from but I declined.

I was advised of an M4 GTS allocation. I declined and said add me to your list for an M2 GTS/CSL.

Dealer: We don't have a list. We've not heard of this.

Me : now you have and now you do

Dealer : They may not make an M2 CSL. BMW says that they don't plan on making anything like that.

Me: that's ok - I've been told that before - see that 1M over there ... It " didn't exist " in 2008 (and for another 2 years ) when I got on a list for it either

The funny part is .. I actually sent into on the available M4 GTS allocation to another bimmer poster and the dealer refused to sell it to that person because he was " not in their market area "

Whats your car history with other marques though? Its seems highly unlikely, albeit not impossible, that Joe Bloggs can just waltz in off the street having never bought a car from that dealer and be given first refusal at list price for a limited run, high demand car. It just isn't logical when some dealers have customers that spend upwards of seven figures with them that they would be shunned for a newcomer. Its not meant to be a defeatist outlook, just a realistic one. If you're in a position to be getting no questions asked msrp build slots for these cars, then you obviously aren't an average customer.
