Do you happen to know the BlendMount part you used? I can't tell whch mirror I have as I am away from home and would like to order so it arrives before I get home. Thanks for any help.

BBE-2017 which fits the M2 mirror and mates with the Escort 9500/8500

Did anyone purchase the new escort IX and have issues finding the blend mount model? They announced the BMG model for the IX specifically but I can't seem to be able to pull up the actual product / mount when going through the product store.

I would ask Blendmount. They are really responsive to questions. Set me right when I ordered mine (Max360).

I'm not planning on using the blendmount (at least not yet) because my preferred mounting point is on the passenger visor or on the windshield below the visor.

Any idea what length would be appropriate for the mirrortap?

It looks like 15 inch would be fine but its hard to determine. I want to avoid having excess wire. If I decide to get a blendmount, I can ultimately just tuck in the excess.

I used the 15" for my installation. Pics available on the initial post of this thread.

Also, it is easy to cut the RJ11 end to length and refit the connector if you have a crimping tool.

Plenty of space inside the housing to hide extra length. You also don't have to come out the sides. The center split has enough give to pass through there too.

I just picked up a Max360. They have them on Amazon for $495.00. Best Buy matched it. Great Price! What BlendMount Model do I need. They asked me to select between 3 mirrors on the M2. I don't have it yet.

Thanks!!

Escort owners - do those of you using the mirror tap still have the ability to use the "auto" brightness function? Last car I hardwired my radar detector into lost this function with the hardwiring. It was strange.

I'm planning on ordering the blend mount and mirror tap for my Escort iX. Do you guys think the 10 inch wire is sufficient enough?

I ordered the 15" for my Escort per recommendation from the wiretap/blendmount tech person I spoke to. 10" might work but I know 15" definitely works. You can always tuck "extra" wire in the casing behind the mirror but you can't make up for a wire that's not long enough.

If you don't want the mirror mount and the detector hanging low Escort folks can look up escort mount in eBay. There's one with 3M tape that adheres to the windshield. I've been using one for years without a single problem, and last I checked it was under $10.

Having trouble.
Followed the DIY, my V1 powered up briefly but only while I put pressure on the black Mirror Tap pin.
I pushed the pin further into the connector to get a better connection but now there is no power to the mirror.
No digital compass, no garage door button function, no dimming.

Anyone have this problem before?
Did I blow the fuse for the mirror electronics?

I finally installed this blend mount/mirror tap for my Escort IX. It took me awhile to take off the cover. I was afraid of breaking something and I ultimately did break off a small piece of connecting clip. However it was just one of many so it still fit back fine afterwards.

Did you get this resolved? I did mine and had some issues with the tap staying in place. I had the 10". It was a tight fit.

It was just a blown 5 amp fuse. For some reason the pins that I inserted into the connector had an intermittent connection. The V1 powered on and off several times in just a few seconds when I jiggled the wires. This evidently heated up the fuse enough to blow.

My local shop says that they do not recommend adding yet another load to the mirror circuit. 5 amps is a small load limit, and that particular fuse is already handling the loads from the mirror sensor/dimmer + digital compass + universal garage door transmitter, among other things (flashing alarm light, UGDO LEDs, etc).

I'll be powering my V1 from an alternate source. Can't recommend using Mirror Tap.

(Note: the blown fuse was in the fuse box under the hood, not the one in the trunk.)

I bought a generic mirror mount and use an Escort Solo S2 wireless so no hard wire issues.

Wiring issue seems common...I'm having intermittent power connection too. I told myself to try reconnecting with another pin but as I wiggle the wires the power comes back on. It hasn't fail me yet but I should fix it if I do.
