I haven't been able to get comfortable in my seat yet. Not sure if it's the angle or the fact that I'm so used to sitting on the "ground" in my Z4s. Totally different seating style.

The seat was very comfortable in the M235i that I took for a test drive.Have you tried using the thigh extender on the seat?

This seems like a dumb oversight to me - how can the seat not be straight?

Not sure if the 235 is like this too, but I never noticed it.

It would be one of those things that I couldn't "unsee" if that makes any sort of sense...

It's not an oversight. It was something related to safety tests and it was cheaper to have the seats crooked than reconfiguring the interior.

From BMW blog:
He also doesn't like the seat position, claiming it to be crooked in order to meet safety regulations.

It's not that bad. If you ever lean on the armrest and notice slightly more pressure on that side of your back, it's the same thing. Maybe a little bit less with both hands on the wheel.

Long term it may even resolve itself if that bolster breaks in faster then the left side. I'm not very big though so don't think I'm putting enough strain on it to make a difference.

It's not the seat itself. I'm just used to a different position. I feel so high even with the seat lowered all the way. . I need time to get the perfect setting.

So will this be bad for your back over time?

Not if you adjust your seat properly.

Soon vendors might come up with something like you said.

BTW owners have to choose crooked seat or crooked steering wheel.

Is the crooked seat only a topic for 2ers? Or 3ers as well. Don't notice it so much in my 3er but curious.

So the steering wheel is lined up with the seat?

In other words, if I make the seat straight, my steering wheel wouldn't be perpendicular to the seat?

Your perspective is right.

However, from original design, seat has to point to left , and steering wheel seems to be on the right. If seat and steering wheel line up, mean steering wheel moves to left.

It's just relativity.

I should have clarified my previous post

The only way it would screw up your back is if your back is already so bad that tiny things can aggravate it. It's really not a noticeable difference.

I only noticed it after a friend of mine drove it and he commented on it. He's an Olympic fencer and by nature of the sport his body is very lopsided, his right side is much bigger (muscle wise) than his left so I guess the seat impact was magnified on him.

I think the pictures make it look worse than it is. As i originally posted weeks ago when this was first noticed, unless the M2 is different to my M235i, which i doubt !

The seats are straight. I confirmed this with a straight edge across both front seats with them set in same position and the straight edge touched all four seat bolsters.

However, the seat is offset 1" to steering wheel centre.

This is common on MANY cars and has been for years.

Gotcha.

Regardless, I truly believe this would drive me insane.

Is it the M2 only that has a crooked seat? M235i as well?

Can you / someone explain the safety bit more? I can't comprehend what this has to do with safety regulations.
