Backup Camera Malfunction
So I'm hopping in the car today to head to work, and I'm greeted with a warning on my iDrive that the backup camera has malfunctioned.
Not a big deal, it's under warranty and all that, just thought it was kind of weird. And no, I haven't hit anything. It's been in the garage for a couple days, and the last time I drove it, the camera was working. Anyone had this happen yet? |

Have you tried it again after the car was off for a couple of hours? The error might clear itself.
This didn't happen for me with the camera, but it did with the front collision warning. After the car was off a few hours when I was at work, the problem fixed itself with magic. |

My F30 has all the cameras (back up, surround view and side view). I get these error messages all the time, yet the cameras work fine. I even had the dealer replace the side cameras twice, as these were the ones that would actually malfunction and not work. now it seems to only be the left (drivers) side view that doesn't work if the temperature goes below -15 Celsius...don't ask me what that is in Fahrenheit...it's cold. Anyway..the only time I use the side cameras is when coming out of a driveway and there is an obstacle (bush, snowbank, etc.) and I cant see if there is traffic coming. Maybe needed it a handful of times in the 4 yrs I have had the car, so i gave up trying to get it fixed. Car goes back in two months when the M2 arrives, so then it's BMW's problem.
