Premium and Midgrade fuel still scarce in/near Harvey-affected areas

Though its been 2 weeks since Harvey hit, I am having a hard time finding anything but 87 octane fuel in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Can always throw a few gallons of E85 in there to balance it out....or if you have to use 87 just do not boost as you will hit detonation.

The city is beginning to have premium available.

There's a gas station there by Wycliff and Lemmon Ave that I just filled up two days ago. $3.09 was a bit hard to swallow considering it was nearly $.40c cheaper just three weeks ago... Another one that has premium is on Oak Lawn and Maple. Good luck!

Stopped for gas in Bastrop on the way home from a football game last weekend and Buc-ee's was completely out of all gas. Tried about 6 other stations in town and none had premium or even mid grade, so I finally just used 87 and added some octane booster. Not ideal, but it got me home. My usual Shell station is still only has 87, but I've been able to find 93 at a couple Chevron and Valero stations here in San Antonio.

I haven't seen anything in the last 2 days in NE Tarrant county. I was able to get a few gallons of premium the other day, but they are now out (it was a little mom and pop station). When I was up in Frisco and Plano, nothing but 87 last week and yesterday. Oaklawn is a bit of a drive for me.

Haven't had any issues the last week near Beltline and the Tollway. Had one tank of 87, back on 93 and happy.

It's been hell on me. I've been up and through there twice in the past week and finding gas (including premium) has been a bitch. It was here, too, but I haven't been out venturing since I got home Tues. to see what gas availability is like here a little under a week later.

No problem finding premium on the SS of SA yesterday. Stations in higher income areas may still be out though. I had a service loaner I had to put a few gallons in before I returned it and had to put in Regular.

I cringed putting in 87 last week but there's premium at the Valero in Richardson at least

my DME seems to have retuned itself and feels sluggish even on 93

The sunoco gas station next to it had premium. I too stopped at bucee's.
It was pretty annoying driving down from arlington down to the valley. No gas station had premium all the way down 35. I got lucky on i10 and found a station with 93

Tried the sunoco, but they must have run out by then...stopped at walmart to buy octane booster and that was all sold out too! Finally stopped at a shell station that had one bottle of octane booster and filled her up with 87

The crisis seems to be over. I found 3 different stations today with premium. I filled up my seemingly grateful 1er and motored to an appointment. I feel much better now.

Right before leaving for Dallas on the 2nd, I tried finding good octane booster (Lucas, NOS, Royal Purple, etc) and no one had anything. Not even the waste of money stuff (STP, 104, etc.) or the expensive VP that works, but only treats ten gallons. I waited in line in Seguin on the way to 130 at a Shell and was able to get 93 for the Pathfinder I was in (one that takes premium fuel for best engine performance). Got 93 at a legit Shell station at I-20 & S. Belt Line. That one was BAD. I will try to upload the video, but for reference, it sounded like horrific rod knock or really bad lifter problem. Two bottles of STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner and a few miles of driving resolved the issue. I can't tell you how long it's been since I had an actual bad tank of gas.

It was, indeed, a VERY strange sight to see an empty Buc-ees and all of their gas pumps bagged over at the one north of Temple.

On the way up to St. Louis on the 6th, I found a well stocked Autozone in Rockwall and stocked up on Lucas Octane booster, Lubro Moly Fuel System Cleaner, and the GDI specific STP fuel additive just in case. Prior to that, when I was on my way up to Dallas to spend the night, I wasted a good 40 mins. in Temple trying to find gas.

I ran into the same problem when evacuating to Pensacola. I filled with 87 (it was the only fuel available) and added some off the shelf octane booster. We drove another 200 miles without any issues in two BMWs.

Yeah whatever. I've been filling with 93 for the last couple weeks here in Houston. I guess we keep the good stuff for ourselves.

I thought I could make it from ETX to dallass on a quarter tank, but read 1 mile to empty with 20 miles to go. Stopped at Beltline and 80 and the Exxon and Shell were out of premium; mild concern creeps in. Whip out my phone and pull up gasbuddy and it showed no premium in the area. I decided to try my luck at Murphy (Walmart), around the corner; at this point I'm so low the engine took about 10 secs of cranking to fire up.

Long story short, though gasbuddy showed no premium, Murphy had some, and though I was 0 miles to empty, I made it over there (thankfully), and this silly gas shortage makes me want a Model S even worse.

Not as bad in GA/FL due to Irma but I've had to search more for Premium as some stations don't have it.
