Track:Sell STI to buy M2?
Currently my bone stock 2015 STI is running 2:02.8 with RS3/ZII at buttonwillow cw13. I know m2 is faster but I'm wondering how fast m2 could run with same tire and manual?

Don't know about that track but the M2 should be quite a bit faster. I sold my 16 STI Limited, and bought a M2. I hated the STI. It felt slow as dirt, understeered on turn in and was generally not that fun to drive. M2 feels super balanced, way more torque, sharper steering and turn in. I'd guess equal tire M2 is at least 1.5-2 full seconds faster on a 1.3 second course.
If you want to stick with AWD try a Focus RS. They aren't that great on the street but a lot of fun to drive on a small tight track. Here's me hooning a friend's RS on a small 1.3 mile track. |

Based on all the reviews, it should be a decent amount quicker around the track, but a lot depends on the specific track and the driver of course.
The only way to know for sure is to buy one! Last edited by Blurbo311; 08-09-2017 at 02:08 PM.. |

Stock m2 in media test uses better tire, better alignment and DCT. What about same tire, same level of alignment and manual? Is it significantly faster or basically same lap time? Last edited by Dennymmm; 08-08-2017 at 02:47 PM.. |

M2 should be quite a bit quicker. Any sti mods? They don't handle well stock and are not setup well from factory. Wants to push like crazy.. Awful understeer. Also if it's tuned and you frequently attend hpde just note that the ej motor can have lubrication issues at high rpm during big G's. Maybe this is a factor for you?

Manual or DCT? How much difference do you think in terms of lap time? |

5 seconds is a pretty big difference with similar performance tires. Even if you take away the coilovers it's probably still 3.5-4 seconds a lap which is significant. Like I said the STI is a turd.

No DSSR yet, but SSK from UUC does a world of good. Stiffen and shorten the clutch pedal action and box is much much better.
