I ended production a little late, on Monday 9/18, so technically week 38... but I somehow made it on Thalatta too! I'm in LA, so scheduled to arrive on my side of the country on 10/20.

I believe my car made it on the thallatta as well. CA emailed me and said my car is in transit, with a estimated port arrival of 10/22 at port hueneme

I sold my current car (Jaguar XF Portfolio Sport - 5.0 V8) to my next door neighbour, who has agreed to an exchange date when I've got my M2.

This is great, but it does mean that I cannot use the funds from the Jaguar to pay for the M2, which is annoying!

Well, once you complete the sale, you can immediately turn around the funds from the Jag to the BMW though. Might make your first loan payment higher than you want but that's a small price to pay for the convenience of driving the Jag until you have the Bimmer!

One thing I just realized, looking at the Thalatta's dates - it was only supposed to be at Bremerhaven until 9/22, and was supposed to be in Belgium on the 23rd and 24th and in the UK by today.

Seems like they made the ship wait at Bremerhaven to load up these cars, which presumably will put the projected port dates a bit later as well... why this hasn't been updated on WWL's site I'm not quite sure?

Actually I was tracking the Thalatta for the last week or so, and it sat outside Bremerhaven for nearly a day. It was listed as 'In Ballast' before that, so I think it was dumping water out ready to load up. It then loaded in Bremerhaven before heading to Belgium, and then to Southampton where it sat again anchored up, presumably emptying out more water before continuing on.

I think the main reason for the delay is that an additional stop in Bristol was scheduled which wasn't there before, and it seems to have taken a little longer than expected to get to Southampton. My assumption again is that when Bristol got added, it meant that more ballast had to be pumped out to accommodate the additional cars that got booked on it.

So you're saying that the cars actually all got loaded back on 9/21 or 9/22 when it was there?

The "status date" for my car says that it wasn't loaded until 9/25, which is impossible if the ship was in Bristol or Southampton.

I guess I'm just not clear on whether that status date on the website reflects the actual time/date that stuff happened (as one would expect), or if it's showing the time/date that the website was updated instead (which seems really stupid IMO).

The dates in the WWL Track&Trace report seem to reflect the date that a particular status was "reported" - not when it actually happened. I noticed that for virtually every car on every boat, the "Loaded on Vessel" date is a couple of days AFTER the ETD date that is reported in the individual entries.

For example, click on a car on Thalatta that has "Loaded on Vessel" as Sep 25. You'll see the ETD date for Thalatta leaving Bremerhaven is Sep 22. So clearly the dates reported in the T&T report can not be "legally binding" dates of when things actually happened.

Yes - stupid and annoying, and yes, it is what it is.

But hey - at least you can do the query. If you end up on line other than WWL, you must rely solely on BMW telling you what boat you're on.

If you Google your boat's IMO number, you'll find about a dozen free trackers - plus a couple that occasionally offer a free satellite tracker trial.
