Drift Course

Did a drift course and had a blast with the car! All held up extremely well, very even wear on the tires, no damage to the rims whatsoever and got no stone chips either. Was a 3 hour beating and it took it like a champ.

Another DCT driver here learning how to drift and more generally drive on snow/ice courses. Have you by chance discussed with the instructor using a handbrake in turns and how it would work with DCT?

I've been trying to find some information on that (whether handbrake can damage DCT or if there's some automatic clutch disengagement if handbrake is used) but haven't seen anything substantial except some people on other websites saying it is ok.

No, I did not ask that question specifically and probably they would not be able to answer definitively as it may vary from car to car and it was not an M performance course. Have been asking the same question to myself though.

Thanks JM, asked the same question in the main sub-forum (http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1340312), let's see if anyone knows.

I see that the matter is contentious... I won't be trying it myself :P

Looks like a blast! So was it more of an autocross cone setup? Or an actual race track?

I need to find this in California.

Cone track thing. Better like this because you will inevitably go of track once or twice.
