When in comfort or sport and you single press DSC then you switch to MDM mode in comfort... You can not get MDM in sport...when you select sport + you also have MDM active.

BMW assumes European drivers are more skilled then on this side of the Atlantic so Euro MDM is more permissive (larger slip angle).... They are probably right.

So... I live in Peru, do I have a Latin-America setting of MDM mode? Is it more or less aggressive than the US version? How can I know?

My understanding is that traction mode is the MDM mode and you still need to activate it in sport plus and it will say "TRACTION" in the cluster. The owners manual is no fricking help on this topic.I don't think the chart on page one is 100% correct.

So I applied this change yesterday but didn't restart my car after coding the module. I drove around a little and honestly didn't notice much of a change. But it could be due to the lack of the restart.

I'll drive it around a bit more and report back with my own conclusion.

Hey guys,

I coded my M2 by changing the one setting (c_laender...) to ECE. I can definitely tell the difference. I was showing what the car can do to a friend and, honestly, had completely forgotten I was on Euro MDM. I took a turn accelerating to try and get sideways (under normal MDM, you gotta be aggressive) and ended up spinning about 70 degrees.

The car is ok and of course we are ok, but just wanted to share this with the group. I was half expecting Euro MDM to be more restrictive than it seems to be, which is COMPLETELY fine I guess, but be careful, you can definitely get in trouble.

I have been reading up on the other settings that people mention, but I can't tell you with certainty whether they are needed. They may help tame Euro MDM, so still reading up. Will share my findings.

I am now 99% sure we only need to change the C_Laender... value to ECE. Also, Euro MDM almost doesn't intervene if you are going less than 20 mph or so, which explains my spin.

On my UK car the Sport+ mode is a restrictive bitch. Traction/"Hidden Exhaust" mode is much more permissive on both wheel slip and lateral slip, just like "real" MDM was on my E92 M3. My point being I don't believe that Sport+ is MDM, but Traction mode certainly is.

It would be interesting to see what your values are coded to. In my experience, traction mode and Euro MDM are pretty close in terms of permissiveness.

Using BIMMERCODE. DSC is not one of the modules listed. I would imagine that it might be FEM but can't locate there.

What is the actual full parameter designation.

This is how I have it on my coding sheet -

DSC Module
Enable Euro MDM

3000 -> C_Laenderkennung
set to: ECE

I don't believe Bimmercode supports coding the DSC module yet. You will have to use ESys.

Correct. Coding of DSC module is not available yet. Stephan is working on it though, keep an eye out on the Bimmercode-specific thread, he's supposed to let us know when it's available.

i tried taking a sharp left turn off a red light today (in Sport+ with Euro MDM coded in) and i got the traction light intervention. I couldn't have been going more than 20mph and the road was dry, so i really can't tell/don't feel much of a difference between US and Euro MDM to be honest.

I've noticed its very nonrestrictive in 1st gear but in 2nd gear i find it way too restrictive for my tastes.

Can you step your tail out in 2nd gear by mashing on the throttle during corn exits?

I have similar experiences to you.. In 1st gear I can step the tail out slightly, but in order to step it out a decent amount in 2nd gear, it needs to be on cold tires, a little damp or I need to aggressively throw the car into the turn.

I'm a little bummed out by it - I wish it was more permissive.

Did you save it or did it intervene?
