too many darn versions of the continentals. And wow.. I really had thought BMW was using a slightly newer version. Still.. They have done this for decades. The E30 M3 came with Goodyear NCT but many cars got a Uniroyal Rallye tire instead. When I bought my first E30 M3 in 1995 ..I pulled out the spare and on it had an old original Uniroyal that had never touched the ground. I guess you only get four ten year old tires these days instead of five. |

I normally agree with your comments, but take exception on this issue. Back to my original question: how will the non-star spec PS4S stack up to the M2 version of the PSS?

My M2 has the MPSS and I put them on my Z4MC as well, love the tires. It was just weird to see BMW play up the exclusive thing and then MY17 came along and they disappeared. EDIT: to answer about the P4S - I've heard really good things but nothing in detail. I might pick up a set this summer and compare the two, dealer is on notice to let me know when they become available. |

The first thing I did in when I took delivery of a 135is in 2013 was to remove the run flats and install a set of PSSs. Interestingly, only the rear size was available with the BMW star. The fronts were an oddball size (215/40R18).

They actually came out in late 2015 and are widely available worldwide. Audi even moved off MPSS and switched to SC6 for MY17 cars....even in USA. Just because TireRack doesn't have means nothing. I could care less about Car and Driver. EVO, Autobild and the top magazines in Europe have all tested vs MPSS and MPSS lost. So again, don't care about lack of reviews in USA. I haven't seen a Porsche 918 in the USA but pretty sure they exist. I'll just continue to drive on the best while others speculate. |

Hmmm, you might have misunderstood The thread is about the tires that BMW is putting on the M2 (and M3 if you will) and that is the SportContact3 and MPSS. The MPSS is the better tire of the two and... 1. The MPSS is much more available than the SC6 2. Nobody said the MPSS was better than the SC6 So... we are not knocking your tire - it is just not available on the M2 from the factory and it is harder to get if you did want to replace either of the two stock tires on the M2 PS - I have seen 3 918s.. including Meredith. Of course that's one less than the four SC6 tires I've seen.

Got it. Thanks. Haven't read the thread. Just notified of mention
As I mentioned in another thread, I'd be pissed off with SC3 as well. I'll shut up now. Carry on. |

The only time I've heard star spec is in relation to the Direzza tires.
What are you guys talking about when you say "get a star spec tire?" As far as this thread goes. |

Basically there are MPSS tires and then there are MPSS star spec which are BMW OE. And specific to BMW. Just like MPSS with MO on the sidewall are specific to Mercedes. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=23& |

My launch M2 came with MPSS on it and has accumulated 7,000 miles. Around 5,000 miles I noticed a drop off in grip. Anybody else notice this? Up til 5k it seldom broke loose unless I was trying to slide it. Since then it is a bit squirmy and slides much easier. BTW, Tires have lots of tread left.

2017 week 1 production with MPSS
My week 1 production came with MPSS. My car is a BSM 6MT. Took delivery yesterday at performance center. All the performance center cars have the Contis on them and I thought they drove well, for what its worth. Haven't been able to really test the MPSSs out yet.

The MPS4S is out at Tire Rack! Really wonder if my March build M2 will come with them... With the new tires out, I'll be pissed to the point I won't take the car if it has Contis on it.
