M2C IND Red M1/M2 Buttons Install

Hello All,

Here is a DIY on how I installed the Red M1/M2 Buttons. I did this for the F8x M3/M4 and I fiqured it may help some of you M2C guys and gals.
Its pretty simple just need some patience with the button tabs.

Here are the tools I used

16 mm socket
Torx T20 socket
Impact gun
Electronics phillips screwdriver
Electronics flat head or tiny pick

I'm assuming you know how to remove the airbag
If you dont watch this.

Now Remove the 16 mm bolt with a impact or ratchet.
Then the two connectors.
Pay attention to the position of this alignment indicator for re installation

Once you remove the trim it will give you access to this T20 torx bolt. This one removes the left paddle.

After removing the paddle you will have access to this T20 torx bolt. This is the bolt that holds on the button pod.

Here are the Red buttons vs the factory ones

To remove the buttons you need to pry the tabs outward over the notch and then the button will come out

Putting the new ones in is as easy lining it up and pushing it in until you hear the click.

When putting mine in I noticed it was a bit tight so I took a nail file and filed off a bit of the red paint near the tabs then it was perfect.
P.S. I had some of the first run of these buttons the ones made now shouldn't have this issue.

M1/M2 buttons also fit on the OG M2, although they are functionless but do depress and pop back. No lights exist behind the buttons. Couldn't stand the blanks anymore.

do the IND red buttons maintain the light functionality on the M2C?

No idea. I would assume so. Though I don't have an m2c.

yes. but it's simply a matter of transparency, letting the bulb's light somewhat come thru the plastic.

yeah, IND just informed they do, because the issue is the OG M2 doesn't have the buttons thus the lighting functionality. On the M2C, it works fine just like in the M3/M4v

I ordered them

Did the RedM Buttons and exterior matched sunset orange trim on the steering wheel. Both easy to do and came out great. But I managed to lose a tiny but important part in the process.

I lost one of the two small vertical white plastic pieces -- anyone have any thoughts on how to obtain these or am I going to end up needing to get an entire donor piece to get another one??

Sorry I borrowed the picture--Ignore the arrows, trying to find one of the small white vertical pieces shown
