burnout in m2
I did do a search ok?
found one dated back to 2014.(non m2). however, just want to know how you guys do a burnout. it was easy on my c63.power brake, rev>modulate brakes a little. how about the m2?i own a dct. 1)tc off 2)put to manual 1st gear 3)just FLOOR it? 4)modulate brakes just enough to hold the front brakes? this is because if i power brake and floor, LC will be activated right?(thus burnout wont occur) disclaimer : obviously, i am not an asshole who will do it on public roads. |

Brake torque or burnout? Burnout equals traction control off and mash the pedal. When the smoke clears get out, log on to Tire Rack, and order new tires.

I assumed he meant because burning through a pair of contis is not a waste of high performance tire... but dropping one big puddle of MPSS rubber would be a crying shame. At least that is what jumped to my mind when I read it (and I am one of the unfortunates who got stiffed with the clearance bin contis).

Not for road use.
But Michelin PSS are better, more sportier. We could say something like this : if the Conti's are the tyre equivalent of the M235i, the PSS are the M2

I don't know if it's a mode per se, but what I found is similar to what's in the original post:
1 - DSC completely off 2 - DCT in manual mode, 1st gear 3 - Mash the throttle all the way to the floor 4 - Much sound and fury with very little forward movement, even if you bop it up a gear or two - I didn't try touching the brake to hold it in place, and I only tried this once, as my tire budget is not infinite. |

The steps are outlined in the link I posted.
"To activate Smokey Burnout, turn off the DSC (press the button next to the gearshift lever or enter Sport+ mode), get the gearshift lever in manual mode (tilt it to the left) and smash the gas pedal. Of course, during this whole ordeal you have to continuously press the brake pedal." |

It pretty much the same as doing LC, with the exception of slamming on the gas pedal to WOT (instead of easing into it). Here are the LC steps from the Owner's Manual.

Smokey Burnout Mode is not the same as Launch Control
The reason why it is not the same is when you use Launch Control, dynamic stability control is attempting to prevent wheel spin. With Smokey Burnout mode, no such intervention occurs.

here's a short video. to hold the burn, you'll need to hold the brakes(which i did not want to do). and you'll need to modulate your accelerator so it doesnt hit the redline all the time. with temperatures of 33 degree celsius here, you can only imagine how damaging this can be for the engine. but i've understand how to do a burnout in m2, (because i came from mercedes camp) and i did not know there's a 'burnout' mode for m cars. thanks very much for all information.really appreciated!
