Save some $$ M2 Rear Bumper Reflectors

I don't post much but I thought I'd share a quick story on the rear (ugly imo) red reflectors on the M2. Turns out the part numbers are the same as the rest of the 2 series. Only difference is ours are vertical instead of horizontal.
Dealer only charged me $22.00 each for these.
I figured why not buy them and in my case just paint them the color of my choice. All in I spent $44 plus a can of satin black spray.

For me this let me do the whole mod without spending triple with mod bargains or IND.

It also paid off because the originals were a huge pita to remove and of course I broke one in the process. Not sure what magic is in the vids, but I had a biotch of a time. Anyway....

The pair are bmw parts:
63-14-7-853-470
63-14-7-853-469

Post up some pics please.

What method did you use to remove them? apparently the easiet way is by removing the screws holding the inner wheel arch lining and uncliping the reflectors from behind.

Does any aftermarket company sell a 'blackline' version of the bumper reflectors: more cosmetic than stock (slightly tinted: rather bordeaux than red color), still functional as reflector and technically still street legal for the M2.

Couldn't you just wrap them in 3m vinyl?

You should specify which 2 series.

They don't look exactly the same in these pics. I'm assuming he means the ones in the top pic? Are we sure this works?

Missedapex: Who's 'we'? Yes the part numbers work.....BMW is part sharing....this is why I posted the information.

I listed the part numbers in my original post. Not sure where the confusion is as far as 'which 2 series'. Use the part numbers and all will be fine.

I pulled mine off with a long thin zip tie fished under /behind the reflector, along with plenty of protective painters tape and a heat gun to loosen up the clips.

Also, pulling the wheel well splash panel will not give access to the reflectors. I tried this, doesn't work. Can't get to them from behind the bumper without a fair amount disassembly. Hence the zip tie approach. It's not perfect and I cracked one during removal...this is how I figured out the part number deal.

As far as pics, not sure why they are needed. I painted mine black. Looks great imo, big improvement over stock red reflector.

OK, thanks. What paint did you use?
