Rear brake upgrade + parking brake question

I recently learned through another thread here that the rear brake rotors have a barrel for the handbrake shoe. For folks who have upgraded/want to upgrade their rear brakes, how is the handbrake functionality retained?

So far, I think I've come up with:

1. You're SOL and lose handbrake
2. The handbrake shoe fits within the aftermarket rotor hat
3. There's a specific application for vehicles with non-electronic parking brakes
4. You need an aftermarket parking caliper-type parking brake

I'm not planning anything soon, but would be good to know.

Most of the major brands have brake drum engineered into the rear hat. Brembo, Stoptech, etc.

Maybe Essex / AP will reply about their upcoming rear BBK?

Hello,

Our upcoming rear Essex Designed AP Racing Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit will indeed retain the OEM parking brake functionality. As mentioned above, the kit installs just like the OEM components. It's seamless. Our rear hat design has a deep hat to accommodate the parking brake. No concerns or issues.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next few days. I'm going to be posting some pics and details up on our rear kit. We're on the home stretch towards launch.

Here's the new rear AP Racing CP9449/9450 Radi-CAL caliper if you haven't seen it yet...it weighs 4.85 lbs.
