Sirius satellite signal cutting out
Today my satellite audio starting rapidly cutting in and out (mostly out) on all channels. FM and USB are fine.
Seems like this might be my first after-warranty issue to deal with. Anybody had similar? |

When I started driving I had AM radio only. I graduated from that to FM and 8 track tape. Combine that ancient history with my windows usually being down so I can hear the Fabspeed, and satellite sound quality is a secondary consideration at best. I do, however, want it to work. |

I actually have no problem with the sound of SiriusXM in my M2. Sounds very similar to SiriusXM in my wife’s CX-5 Boise system.

Almost certainly due to temporary interference, physical or atmospheric, which obstructed your antenna's reception. Satellite radio requires direct line-of-site and almost anything in the path can prevent it from working properly.

Try it again. It's not 2006. They've significantly improved sound quality via better codecs and better decoding hardware. Sounds 100x better than a decade ago. Totally adequate for road listening on a mediocre sound system as we have IMHO.

I like Sirius on the M2C, it's actually good. I don't listen to FM or my playlists as much as I used to, I listen to music mostly on Sirius now. I like it enough that I renewed for another year after after the 1-yr free subscription.

One thing to keep in mind when you renew, always threaten to cancel the service on the phone with them. They will deeply discount the annual price to keep you around. We do this every year with multiple cars and never paid full retail, or anywhere close to it.

Yeah, that was my first thought but it was a crystal clear day and I covered about 20 miles with no change.

bad antenna signal
Read all the threads and will comment on most of them, but the most important (which started this thread) is...
Probably signal lost between your antenna and the receiver. It's like it has no signal. When there's no signal it just goes blank. If it's under warranty have them check it out, otherwise I'd check the antenna input to the unit. I have an M4 so not sure about yours but they should be similar...which is either behind the head unit or in the trunk at the amp. My M4 JUST started doing this...cutting out. Well I forgot most of the other posts except the gist of them is that the sound is bad. It's mostly from the amp and the digital processing. The least expensive way to get better sound would be speaker replacement. That would be anywhere from $200 (for under seat woofers) to about $1K to replace all of them. Good luck and that's my suggestions. |
