To me, the M3 looks like the crate the M4 was shipped in.
M4 = Form (sleek coupe) over function.
M3 = Function (four doors + headroom) over form.

In the old days, every Benz model was slightly bigger than the competing BMW model.
So BMW was forced to increase the sizes of all their models. For "more value."
Now there are so many BMW models that all niches are filled.
But the 3/4 Series are still bigger than ever.

And do those category wins justify the $15K+ higher sticker (with similar equipment)?
Are performance numbers more important than actual driving enjoyment?
Who are you trying to impress with that M4? Yourself or bystanders?

My opinion is the only reason to buy the M2 is it's less expensive and the exhaust note is better. Inside and out, the M4 is better looking from every angle... Especially that roofline!

I would take the one with. More power, more choices for color, interior, options, technology and carbon fiber driveshaft and roof.

I just don't get the M2. Missing to much but still weights 3450 lbs. it's only appeal sees to be a shorter wheelbase.

I'm not getting an M2 cuz it's less expensive. different strokes for different folks! I have an M3 with full leather SO and have driven the M235i extensively and yes, the M3 is more luxurious but now joyment of driving (i.e. small, nimble, tossable) is more important to me.

It's the more use of more expensive carbon fiber that saves the weight for the M4. The M2 is still a tad lighter, and will be mathematically the more agile and tossable car. Please. It's not hard to understand. It also costs 20k less in most cases. And for many people the M2 is much more fun to drive.

Do you understand now?

You sound so sure of yourself. Did you drive the M2 or are you extrapolating?

I think he is going off of all the reviews from professional drivers saying that the M2 is more fun and more M than the M4. Just a guess though.

Probably all the reviews that say the M2 is much more tossable/agile than the M4? Not really hard to figure out.
