And now I can't unsee it! In fact, bimmerpost members said they are similar here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1143299 Although I feel nowadays, everyone is copying everyone else in some way and some cars in general are difficult to differentiate design wise with all the iterations we've seen. However, I don't feel it's a blatant ripoff or anything, like what Hyundai used to do. Anyway, this new Alfa is going to be a great car at least from whats shown on paper (fastest 4 door on the Ring, relatively light weight, even if it's sans fluids). Hoping to have a look at the auto show. Last edited by csbear; 01-18-2016 at 01:00 PM.. |

So just because we don't agree with you we are "cocky M owners" with "blown up egos".
Are you sure you are 61 years old? You sure as hell don't act like a grown up. |

I'm a little late to the party but isn't this a 4 door saloon, kinda like an M3 and there not really that much like an M2 except being front engine RWD and being launched soon? Also it's M3 price bracket too from what I read so not much to compare vs an M2 maybe?

I don't like Alfas. Fantastically overrated as automotive "works of art".
Oh wait, we're meant to be trying to cut down on the bickering in the M2 forum aren't we? |

But seriously, if not the M2, I do feel it has some similarities to the F80 M3. On top of the other similarities I listed, the F80 and the Alfa both also have that crease line coming from the side intake, going along the doors handles. Even bimmerpost members and F80 owners mentioned that, at least from the early responses in the link I posted. It's all good, I see the new Alfa as a good thing entering the sports segment. It will keep M, AMG, and RS development on their toes IF Alfa gets some dealers here! Last edited by csbear; 01-18-2016 at 04:30 PM.. |

Yeah, I was responding more so to the comments insinuating Alfa copied BMW (as the original post hints).

The design language of the two + cars are nothing alike. Not one design cue that I can see.. Except higher shoulder lines and higher hood lines. All cars have that. |

Saw the Alfa in person. Hated it to be honest, didn't love the M2 in white but it was a lot better looking than the Alfa IMO. In the Alfa's defense it was right between a 4C coupe and 4C spider so that didn't help its cause. 4C is drop dead gorgeous, so anything would look bad by comparison. The big one reminded me of the old boxy stuff they used to bring to the states.

I saw one at the Philadelphia auto show and it's a nice looking car with some well done interior details. I think the performance is indeed impressive. The blue car they had on display was a blue metallic with ALOT of metallic in it.
For us here in the US Alfa Romeo isn't a household name and I think it will need an incredible amount of positive press before it catches on here. For the expected MSRP of the spec'd out 510hp model of around $80k usd I don't see it taking a huge amount of the market away from BMW here in the states. BMW has such a foothold already and the Alfa doesn't offer any cost savings for those willing to take a chance on it over say an M3; which is already well established here. There are always those who like to be different and I am usually one of those people... But I don't see it becoming the wild success Alfa is projecting with their North American sales projections. As far as how it looks compared to the M... Well so many cars are looking like they were all designed by the same company now. The rake of the windshield and lines and flow of the cars. The only want to tell them apart is in the nuances sometimes. Here are some shots I took.
