Out of your total , lets say weekly driving, how much do you spend in COMFORT vs SPORT, and how often are you in SPORT+?

I have about 400 km on this car so far, black shadow '18 w performance upgrades,


Im still in the 'break in' period before the first service check, i was doing a lot of sport mode at first, being all gitty with the car, now i think i should take it easy and comfort it?

does it make much big difference if you spend most of the time in comfort vs sport in the long run health of the car??

what are your thoughts? (wish i knew how to make a poll)

I don’t think it makes any difference. Sport only increase throttle response.

During breakin, you just need to watch your revs.

Driving mode during break in makes no difference. It's just recommended that you don't exceed 5000 rpm till after the 1200 mile service.

Trust me, you really don't have to pussy foot it. Just don't wind it out to redline and you'll be fine.

I just got my break in service and drove my 2000km in sport.

While you don't want to push the engine past 5000 rpm during the break-in period, you also don't want to drive the car at, say, 2500 rpms on the freeway for the entire time.

You want to use the engine, and put it through it's paces... you can actually drive the car pretty hard and still not exceed 5,000 rpm's. While it's tempting to simply hop on the freeway and drive for several hours to rack up the miles, that isn't what's best for the break in period!

Drive it at different speeds, drive it at low rpms part of the time, then rev it up to 4500-5000 rpm.....

Believe me you can have a great time without exceeding the break in limit, and the engine will be better served then if you baby it!

I do 100% in sport. I would use sport+ only on the track.

I drive locally almost exclusively in Sport+ primarily for the auto-rev matching, exhausts burbles, and throttle response.
On a back road with extreme curves I'd temporarily drop back to Sport as a safety precaution since it re-enables traction control.
Although rare, on a long, extended expressway drive with cruise control, I'd use Comfort mode which is quieter.

Sport+ 99% of the time.

Maybe if I'm hungover I'll shut my valves and put it in comfort.

Never really unless it's raining. I go immediately to Traction/MDM mode when the car starts because I get the faster shifting on the DCT but the cooling system isn't working as hard as it can so the car warms up faster than sport or sport+. Then as soon as the car is warm I change to sport+.

Also Traction/MDM has louder pops and bangs, that makes slow speed warm up driving more fun.

I was timid when I first got the car like you but now I know the car better. In rain though at high speeds or hard turns I won't risk it in Sport+ or drive aggressively, it would probably be fine but that's still too much risk for me. I had the rear step out on me easily going from 2nd to 3rd in sport+ in a straight line on a deserted road in the rain at like 80% throttle high RPM so now I know.

0% of the time in Comfort, was mostly Sport during break-in, now about 50% Sport, 50% Sport+.

Not a big fan of Comfort or Sport+, for different reasons. The throttle is way too lazy in Comfort, and it's hard to modulate correctly in Sport +. Sport feels most natural to me, even on the track, although I do go back and forth a bit there...

Let the engine warm up in Comfort for 5 or 10 minutes then Sport Plus all the way.

Sport + always for me unless I'm on cruise control which automatically reverts to Sport or when it's raining and I want traction control.

Never in comfort.

After 2 speed tickets and being called to the court, that ratio has changed a bit...

I spend break in period in Sport, not exceeding 5000. ( well it happend a few times )

I have been messing around with Sport mode and only changing the engine OR the chassis. So far using Sport to change the engine response seems to be the way to go for around-town driving.

LOL, that's what I have been doing too. Watch out for the cops, they are out early Saturday morning also, to catch folks like us.

99% sport +

Throttle response is lax and steering is too light in comfort. I use it as much as I used eco pro mode in my old 4er. Never. #DontNeuterMcars
