Hello, my M2c has 32,000 km, I plan to drain the DKG at 50,000 km. Is it mandatory to have ISTA to do this operation. If it is mandatory do you know where to have ISTA. Is it also mandatory or advisable to replace the pump? thank you

There is no reason to do this at your milage and yes, you need ISTA or you will not be able to properly fill the trans.

everyone has their point of view on replacing the oil, personally I prefer replacing the oil in prevention. Do you have a link where to find ISTA. thank you

I'd say 50k km is reasonable, I'd even do it sooner because fluid is cheap maintenance.

The kit on FCP euro is just a drain and fill kit with the filter. According to their description, you just drain and put the same amount of fluid you drained. Has anyone done it this way without any issues or using ista? Also, when is it really necessary to replace the whole pan? Is that at 100k or sooner?

Imo, those who are being quoted $1k for the full service including labor and parts (new pan with gasket included), that's pretty cheap. The full kit with OEM fluid, both filters and new pan with gasket and screws runs about $800 from my research.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...81078428402kt/

If you remove the pan and don't replace it, you run the risk of a leak. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the heat will wrap the plastic pan and if you remove it once it'll never fit again like new that's why it's recommend to replace it. Unless you have an upgraded aluminum pan then you probably only need to replace the gasket. However, the OEM plastic pan and gasket are one piece and cannot be separated. I'm not sure how it is on the 3rd party aluminum ones. If you're only doing simple fluid changes and not messing with the pan then $1k is probably an overestimate.

I have a 2017 M2 with 35000 miles. My dealer refused to do an oil service on the DCT. Does anyone know of a good independent shop in the Sarasota/Bradenton, FL area who does this AND without ripping off customers? Many thanks for any info.

Question on the fluids. Red Line vs OEM DCT fluid. Any opinion on one or the other?

Does red line deteriorate quicker than oem?

Received a quote from a 3rd party shop (specialize in bmw’s, lambos, etc) for 1700 for DCT and diff flush and filter replacement.

Likely because BMW and Getrag stated it does not need to be changed, and the dealership is honoring that. Cleanliness is a significant factor in manufacturing DCTs and other hydraulically actuated systems. Typically the hydraulic circuit is assembled in a pressurized clean room, and the incoming material is held to a stringent particle contamination standard. Contamination will be present when you take it apart at a dealer or your garage.

Would there be a noticeable improvement in transmission durability and shift performance? Maybe. The transmission doesn't get very hot, and there are two oil filters. Leave it alone for daily driving. If you're tracking a lot, proactively changing it is a good idea, especially if the vehicle is modified to go faster around the track.

The system was designed to use a BMW-approved oil. Unapproved oils may have many different properties that would not be optimized for the original BMW DCT calibration. Further, some additives may not be compatible with the friction material, sealant, or elastomers (oil seals) and cause them to degrade differently than expected. Other things might be the amount, type, and quality of anti-foam agents to ensure the oil pickup always gets a liquid, not foam or air. I would stick to an OEM-approved fluid. This would be Pentosin FFL-4. There is so much engineering and testing that goes into developing a product to use a specific oil. I always think back to the Gen 5 Viper engine where they could only get the engine bearings to pass testing with the specific Shell oil chemistry. Yet, people flock to the aftermarket thinking it will be better.

I changed my car's dct oil at 47000km.
It clearly down gears more often than before even in comfort mode.
