Ok time to put this feature to rest! Since there have been a few conflicting reports, I though a single thread to compile the evidence for the existence (or not) of a comfort mode would be helpful. Please don't use this space to express your opinion as to weather you think it is a worthwhile feature or not. Let's try to keep this to facts!
From the Brussel Auto Show: " The M2 has the ability to change the damping between comfort and sport. Not sure if there is a difference between comfort, sport and sport+. There is definitely a sport and comfort damping difference and there is a setting for both. In the iDrive menu you can opt for having a comfort chassis mode when you select Sport mode. It is not the same system as the M3/M4 has." |

Where is that quote from? Did the motor show itself make the quote? Is it a living being?
The only reason there is confusion is because people keep bringing up stupid threads like this!! |

Nothing in the M2 Brochure I have right next to me now that mentions adaptive damping or changeable settings (be it active or not) for the suspension.
IMO There is no changeable damping. Happy to be proven wrong once actual cars some out of the brochure is updated somehow. M2 is 'plain' and simple to the point, a great handling realistically priced M car. I can't explain why the screenshot of a show car seems to indicate that it has adaptive and TBC I've never changed these settings of Chassis vs Drivetrain on the iDrive on my cars that have Adaptive.

They're not mentioned in the official press release and even an M engineer explained it doesn't have them in an interview with CAR magazine. Why is this even a subject for discussion?!!

Because of the mysterious screen! That screen is identical to my M135i that has adaptive dampers. Cars without adaptive dampers doesn't give you the option to configure the chassis.

The screen allows you to configure the steering only. I remember seeing threads on a similar topic when I was still looking at getting a 340i. My guess is that it is a fairly new addition and basically a cost savings measure to allow both adaptive and non-adaptive cars to use the same graphic. I seriously doubt it has adaptive/configurable suspension based on the information made available thus far. Who knows what options may become available in later years. I am hoping for a sunroof myself.

I'm not sure what more confirmation you need other than it saying in the official press release it DOESN'T have adaptive dampers, and also an M engineer in an interview with CAR Magazine saying it doesn't have adaptive dampers, and explaining WHY it doesn't have them? |

I have a dealer demo 116d at the moment, which definately does not have adaptive suspension (or any other kind of option for that matter) and that has the screen to allow for drive train and chassis adjustment.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Sadly I think there is another thread about to be started asking whether the M2 has adaptive suspension in 4....3.....2....1....

- Can I order individual? - What about the mirrors? - Adaptive suspension? - New turbo? - Weight?! Oh, wait. That was basically all handled already in the official press release on Oct 14. |

Just quickly back to topic.
Yes M2 has that screen where you can configure chassis and steering in sport mode. This is in every new BMW even if it doesn't have adjustable damping. What it does is that you can have both or either one in sport mode. This means that if you want to have heavier sport steering but wish to have comfort mode gear box you can have it. I often set it up like that if journey has a lot of highways so I can have heavier steering but 8th gear for fuel economy. On the sport mode it doesn't change to 8th even on highway.

Worth pointing out that Adaptive Damping is not the same as adjustable or driving experience control.
The M135i can have both but comes with adjustable as standard so I have Comfort and Sport chassis settings. I wanted to know if the M2 had adjustable suspension, I'm not too concerned if its adaptive or not. I found the 1M just a little too stiff on the one setting it had and I would have liked a comfort setting on the M2 for daily use. A thread for this discussion was created sometime back. |

Huh? M135i comes with adaptive dampers or standard fixed rate dampers. I'm not sure what you are saying.

Believe me - there is almost no difference in comfort in either setting in my "adaptive suspension" equipped M235i. I regret I didn't tick the M-Sport static one when configuring.
I'm saying this coming from the F10 528xi, where the suspension was called EDC and there was additional setting in the "driver's experience" button - Comfort+. Now that was superb for bad roads! And when you switched to Sport/Sport+, there really was a difference - the car almost sitting down lower on its springs (subjective feeling, of course)....
