Just 2 weeks into my M2 after 3 years in my N55 1er with DCT. Not sure how many of you coming off that 1 DCT but for those that are are you noticing that the M2 has much softer shifts? With the 1 in sport mode and with the trans in S the automatic shifts under moderately hard acceleration were very firm. The M2 in both sport and sport+ are soft and mushy by comparison. The only way to get a firm shift is to run in sequential mode. Actually prefer the 1er trans tuning over the M2 settings. It's the same trans so wish they would retune via software.

Let me clarify. I prefer the 1er trans tune. I clearly prefer the M vs the 1. Will update the OP.

This is my first DCT so I'm new at it. Mine does shift harder in s mode while in sport/sport+. Haven't really paid attention in auto mode. I'm in sequential mode in sport + most of the time.

Is the 135is and the M2 DCT the same one, just upgraded for the M2?

I am growing to really like the DCT. I really wanted manual but I drive in terrible traffic a lot so convinced myself the DCT might be a good compromise since it's so responsive in manual mode. I am hoping to switch to an M2 in a couple years so happy to know it has essentially the same transmission.

The M4 uses GS7D36BG M-DCT from the F10 M5, same 1-7 gear ratios but different final drive and mechatronics. The M2 shares both the manual transmission and DCT with the M4.

The output flange has a BG part # but everything else I've seen shows the GS7D36SG for the m2/m4 |

Since I got my Dinan S2 tune, I'm not sure what they did, but the DCT is even more incredible than it was before. If I put the transmission in sport mode, it just seems to always keep you right in the power, shoves you back at every shift and exacerbates the delicious sound of the performance exhaust. I should go find some M2 exhaust videos for comparison.
