Does that even work? I dropped the Vin for my 2018 on their android auto retrofit page and it says it's not compatible.

I dropped mine and it said it was compatible.
Took a screenshot though...... There was a minus 10% BF sales voucher, so I opted for 3years guarantee for free (give or take a few $) edit : expectation management I ordered the Android Auto MMI Prime Retrofit for BMW |

yes I have ID5 from my2017. Bimmertech said MMI prime is incompatible with >ID4 but he has 2020, if it's compatible with his car should be compatible with mine as well

Rechecked today via the live chat, it is compatible, and it is the interface only (no replacement screen or something). Will be in hopefully before Christmas, and off course I will share my experiences

thank you. I cannot understand why your ID6 is compatible and my ID5 not if it's compatible only with <ID4 ...

Well,
Somebody woke up at their bimmer tech's tech department ? Pitty that their VIN checker, and the online Chat guy told me "no you're fine, eta in two weeks", 3 weeks later I receive this message: "" Hi, Unfortunately our Android Auto MMI kit is not compatible with your vehicle. We will have a kit that’s compatible with it in 2-3 months. " So I asked a refund, might order once available, let's see ! Sofar some of you guys were absolutely right! |

sorry to be right ...at least they are working on it.
The only option for now seems to be the very expensive unique-ad unit: https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wire...era-interface/ they claim it's compatible but they disappeared when I asked for a video of Androidauto working wireless on widescreen bmw... Too much money to risk. For now I'll stick with my 10.25 android headunit, once rooted and modded it's near perfect. |

So, after receiving the message from Bimmertech (or should I say Bummertech) that the system is not compatible and it would take them another 2-3 months to sell a compatible system, I requested them a full refund at 24.12.2019
This message has never been answered. I reminded them with a final reminder, also not answered up till today. This makes again clear, why you should always try to pay with Paypal, where I escalated this case for a refund via Paypal, sending over my proof, screenshots etc. Not exactly what I expected.....and that's being said extremely politely. Feel free to consider this a lesson learned before doing business with Bimmertech. Cheers Erik |
