Lot's of interesting speculation in this thread; I can't imagine BMW would go to the trouble of producing a "tuned M235i" though... Now that the M3/4 have gotten so big and comfy (like M5s of years past), this car really could target a slightly different segment - one that we've sorta been devoid of since the sunset of the e46 M3.

Let's hope this M2 will be a real-deal agile, lightweight track beast!! (If it is, sign me up to buy one)

I am doing the X drive diesel thing to get that out of my system and then i will move onto the M2. Still cant make up my mind whether to keep my 1M or trade it ? But either way i have already told the dealer that i will have an M2 in 2017, lets hope that BMW really gets it right and then surprises everyone by offering the M2 in X drive !!!

I'm more concerned that the NEXT generation 2-series will be FWD only. Still years to go on that obviously, but good reason to think it will be based on current rumors and thinking.

Yep youre right not manny are reading youre post. But the next 1 series will be fwd drive so next 2 series will proberly also fwd. Then this will be last rwd small ///M car from BWM. From 3 series onwards only rwd.
