In my previous cars, after I shut down the vehicle the interior lights turn on for a few seconds and then slowly fade out. Which is helpful at night to grab my wallet and phone before I exit the vehicle. In all other cars I've had, it's a 3-way switch up by the map lights that turns this on, but the M2 only has on/off buttons. I haven't been able to find an option to control this in iDrive either. Any idea?

No idea? Do BMWs maybe not have this feature? This is my first one.

Did you look under the interior lighting portion on iDrive. I believe you can set the length of time the lights stay on. Also turn the middle switch on of your map lights. I believe that determines if your interior lights come on or not when the doors open.

Replying because I found my answer. You have to press the ignition button twice to get the interior lights to turn on. Once to shut off the engine, and again to shut off iDrive. Then the dome lights will turn on.

Or just open the door.
