VIN check for my week 32 LBB 6MT (w/o Exec Pkg) shows 522 and 5AP as well. It's on the boat right now, with a delivery estimate to me in Tacoma of 9/20 or so. I'll know what I've got then

It really does seem random at this point. The curious programmer in me wants to see the ordering system code and logs since system errors almost always have some kind of pattern and aren't truly random although they sometimes sure do seem that way, as in this case. I'd like to imagine there is (or was, if they fixed it...) some crazy but repeatable sequence of events in which the ordering system leaves item 552 on there w/o Exec.

The randomness surprises me, but not as much as the fact that it's still happening after more than 2 months. Maybe they're just Easter Eggs and we're smarter than some programmer at BMW thought we'd be.

Well, per the VIN decoder, I'm not getting the 552 option, and I didn't get the Executive pkg. I guess I'll find out for sure in a couple months. Another week 33 waiting for a ship. This is the reason I don't play the lottery.

feel like there's a gap somewhere. Maybe because of the July shut down. The first batch of post-shut down should hit state side in the next few days.

I'm week 33 and my car started 3 days before the shutdown and finished the week after they came back so we'll see what it ends up with when it arrives in 2 weeks.

just by looking at the threads here, there's is no wk 29, 30, 31.
wk 28 cars have been delivered a few weeks back and wk 32 is still on the boat.

Interesting.. Would the factory break be the reason my wk 32 car showed a lengthy production with a start production date of 7/6 and a completion date of 8/10?

Yes.

It likely sat idle on the production line during the 3 week shutdown. That's my theory anyway judging from all of the OCD-induced study I've been doing lately.

I have updated the original message to reflect the latest information received from BMW. I don't think we'll ever know for sure how this happened, but we've certainly made a couple of pretty good guesses.

My car has the 552 Adaptive LED Headlights, but it does not have 5AC Automatic High Beams. According to all the paperwork on the car, it also has two mystery features: 5AP Decoding for No-Dazzle High Beam Assistant and 8S4 Decoding Variable Light Distribution. The confusion between 5AC and 5AP is why BMW Genius originally thought the car also had Automatic High Beams. Interestingly, the Genius today said he has no record of what either 5AP or 8S4 are, in reference to U.S. M2s. They're on my car's Build Sheet and show up in all the VIN Decoders, but they may be ROW only.

So, does anyone in the world know what these two "features" are? And, now that more M2s are being delivered in the U.S., did anyone else get Adaptive LED Headlights as a no-cost option?

BTW, there are no records accessible to the BMW Geniuses as to why this snafu happened, but there's a similar thing going on with the new 5 Series: Parts for the trunk closer were not available, so a bunch of 5s were built without them because demand for the cars is so high. The people receiving those cars are not happy.

I have the 5AP and 563 also, but with 552 also on my week 33 non-exec. Will be picking up Monday so we'll see if it has adaptives. Pretty strange indeed.
