Streamed youtube last night just fine, but I didn't check if sound was working on that.

Thanks!

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Stephan for creating Bimmercode (and Bimmerlink), and to all of you who have posted your experiences/coding with the app. It's been hugely helpful! I just finished coding a bunch of features and it's all gone very smoothly - so thanks again!

Is it safe using The Bimmercode app?
I was reading here some occasional reports of failed coding resulting in lots of errors.

Finally got around to coding this weekend. Coded everything I needed:

ASD off
VIM
Warnings off
Play from USB
Codec enable
Door unlock on shut off (maybe my favorite)
Brake Force flashing
BMWi chimes
Phone ringer
plus a few others

Absolutely no issues and everything working as expected. Nice app.

...screen looks decent...Spectre playing from USB

I turned the ignition on for mine (although some people do it with the engine running?) and had no issues at all. Took about 30-60 seconds for each ECU coding and then I turned ignition off and back on and that was it.

I struggled to get it to work in simple mode, I ended up activating it through expert mode on my G30.

I then held the iDrive controller in the correct direction, (then followed the instructions on screen) as per the instructions in the app.

VIM worked just fine in basic mode...after you click on "Code" in Bimmercode, just follow the instructions on the iDrive screen...couple clicks and then hold the big shiny knob forward until it finishes.

...and here comes all the jokes.

Silly question, but with video in motion enabled, how does one stream from an iphone to the car's screen?

No stupid questions, I had the dealer do it for me as I was having some issues with no signal on my unit.

It seems that it's been fixed but I think is quieter now

Variable Light Distribution

To my knowledge there's no organized complete list of what you can or can't do on the app. You can search the forum/google and find different coding cheatsheets/spreadsheets people have put together in Excel on the 2/3 series forums but that's for ESYS coding, not all of which can be done in bimmercode. This app is still relatively new. The easiest thing to do would be to just download the app and look through all the modules in easy mode. You can pick everything you want to code in one sitting and have it done in a half hour, if that.

Anything you're looking for that you can't find in easy mode, just do some google searching and you can most likely find instructions on how to do it in expert mode. That's how I've been doing it. If you need help with something specific you can ask in this thread/forum and people are usually more than willing to help.

Here's what I've personally done to my own car and can confirm to work:

DVD In Motion
Enable Video Playback Via USB
Additional Video Codecs
Disable Legal Disclaimers
Change BMW Gongs To BMWi
Disable Seat Belt Chimes
Close Windows & Sunroof w/ Keyfob
Fold/Unfold Side Mirrors w/Keyfob & CA
Unlock Doors When Car Is Shut Off
Radio/Nav Shuts Off When Door Is Opened
Angel Eye Brightness At 100%
Disable Orange Side Markers
Enable Door Handle Lights In Reverse
Disable Headlight Washers
Fuel Range Warning 2 - Not Active
Active Sound Shut Off
Brake Force Display Mode - Flashing
Brake Force Display Flash - 5 Times/Sec
Comfort Closing Delay - No Delay
Disable Windows Up Safety Feature
LCI Tail Light Retrofit Coding
Rear Fogs Enabled
Bang & Olufsen Audio Skin
Rain/Light Sensor - Sensitive
Air Con On w/Auto - Off
Air Con Memory - Active
Air Circ Memory - Active
Variable Light Distribution

95% of it can be done in easy mode without any special instructions. For everything else
Hi Andrew, I want to code Variable Light Distribution as well. How is your experience so far with the beam splitting at night? Is it worth bothering with?

You need to plug in a flash drive with video files.

So far i've only been using VLD and I like it a lot, I think it's worth coding in. If you live in the suburbs/city where they have lots of street lighting then it won't really have a massive impact on your life, but if you're driving on a back road without much lighting it makes a very noticeable difference.

I just added GFHB today and will play with it and see how it is. I've read a lot of conflicting information about how US spec cars don't have the correct hardware to run it without blinding others and I've also read that they work fine so idk who to believe, therefore I'm going to test them out myself. I'll report back to this thread probably:
