That is to say you had a 111 number and you moved to the production pack number last week? Or something different? Was your allocation from q4 or more recent?

Production # is the # that ties you to your allocation and allows you to track your order. It is a seven digit #. I called Genius and they said my car is slated for production on 3/10/17.

My dealer called me, wants $5k over. The guy ahead of me (who happens to be a member on here) gave up his #1 spot, so they gave it to me. They are claiming that they are only getting 4 cars in 2017.

I have a feeling I am in exactly the same situation. I think at least in the Southern California area that there is still too much demand for the supply, in essence. I have a feeling I could get what I want if I pay $5,000 over MSRP, or I could wait another quarter while the value of my M235i drops further. Doubt it will drop $5,000 but I think I am really at a point where I might pay the ransom to avoid another 1M Coupe situation where I miss the boat completely. Why do I have to care so much about cars? I think I need help.

I grew tired of waiting on my local dealer (been #1 since July) and started calling around to smaller dealers. Found 3 allocations in a matter of an hour. But, two wanted ADM. BMW of Chattanooga had an allocation and sold at MSRP. Quick and painless over the phone and by email. it's an 8 hour drive for me. May do PCD since it's only another 143 miles. Every BMW I've bought has been a 5-8 drive to purchase. It's worth $2-5k in my pocket to spend a couple days on the road - mini vacation.

I hear you. Not sure I would really call that a production number. You are in 111, like I am. I think mine is scheduled on the same date. Very funny that the first build for the Jan-March allocation is in March, right? Cars won't arrive until April, but that should be prime time. You can also make changes to your build up until about 2 weeks or so before that production date. At this point, the deposit isn't even binding.

Congrats. Is yours a Week 10 build? Mine is and they (Genius rep.) gave the same est. begin date for production.

Cheers.

Military sales program got zero allocation for 16 but looks like it will get up to 8 for 17... that would seem to indicate more will be available generally.

Nah, just 8 less somewhere else.

Did your local dealership eventually contacted you regarding your #1 spot?

Nope. I've sent an email and left two voice mails. They are notorious for not communicating with their clients. Oh well.

Wow that's brutal. Imagine you still waiting for the car now. Glad you found an alternative.

been told I'm #1 on list for last two months. Waiting to see if I get real allocation for Jan. I saw an M2 in stock on inventory at another dealer and called them. Told me that car was sold but there was another allocation up for grabs with deliv in March. All set to order until he told me they wanted MSRP + $5K. I said seeya. Just rubs me the wrong way. Gonna wait.

I'm number one at my dealer at MSRP. With all the crap going on about the lci and the cs car, I wonder if I really want the thing. One hand says it is great and very desirable, the other hand suggests the value could drop like a rock.

It depends -- buy now if you want a well balanced drivers car that no reviewer has said lacks power; wait to buy if you want only the latest and greatest and are good with waiting until the fall 2017 at the earliest for the LCI (no firm date for the future CS). I went for buy now when I found a available production spot.

Newer isn't always better. And, I'm betting the value doesn't drop even if a "significantly" revised M2 happens. If it does, the price will increase accordingly which will stabilize the value of the initial offering. I can't imagine I'll be disappointed with my 2017. There will always be advances in technology but the current M2 won't be an 8-track tape player anytime soon!

I'm also currently #1 at my dealership. I need them to hurry up and call me because it's getting too close for me not to be anxious! It's already a new year and no allocations yet! What's taking so long!??

As I understand, in U.S., all allocations through March '17 build dates, are already provided to the dealers.
