Yeah. This dealer had (at the time I ordered mine) about 68 people on the list so they are fairly high volume. That said, when I talked to my sales associate in 2014 and tried to explain I was interested in the M2, he kept talking about the M235, so I realize there is the possibility he didn't exactly put me on the list in 2014. When I did order the M2 he did say I was #14, so I guess a few people dropped off (or moved if they had called before I did in 2014).

need info from those who already have taken delivery

So here is what's missing from this thread. We have lots of posts here from folks like me that are somewhere between placing an order and shipped, but we don't have info (unless I missed it) from anyone that has actually taken delivery. I just got my VIN and a date for completion of production, and yes, I know what the estimates are in the master tracking post, but those aren't current and aren't specifically for the M2, so we don't have an accurate report of actual time from production to available at dealership. And now that I have my VIN and know when my car will be finished production, I would really, really like some concrete accurate information about how long it will likely take until it is available at the dealership. I'm in New England, so the east coast port is a shorter boat trip.... it would be nice to get the production to delivery time for east coast and other parts of US. (I know the US isn't the only market all you folks from Canada, Australia, UK, etc..

I've been somewhat chronicling my M2 purchase in this thread that I started:

http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1281163

But it is more of discussion of DCT vs. 6MT. So I figured I'd go ahead and show my timeline here (in more detail than necessary, of course):

02/23/16 - I don't consider myself a huge "car guy" so I first read about the M2 on, of all places, The Verge. I slowly start researching it from there and become enamored with it. Maybe I'm more of car guy than I think.

06/13/16 - Stop by my local dealer to drop off the wife's X6 for service. While I'm there I talk to a BMW "Genius" and she tells me there are over 100 people on the wait list.

06/17/16 - Pick up wife's X6. They have their HEA M2 (already sold) on the floor. I spend an hour looking at it and sitting in it while talking to the sales manager. He tells me there are only 18 people on the wait list (the "genius" was not so smart) and tells me to email him if I want on the list. I go back to work and can't stop thinking about it...instead of email I drive back to the dealership and tell him I want on the list. He takes me to internet salesman and has me configure a M2, takes the printout from me and says "I'll take care of you."

06/30/16 - Get call from the internet salesman. He has an allocation for me and wants me to come in and put down a deposit. The big caveat, I have to get MPE with CF tips along with another CF accessory. All prices at MSRP. What am I to do? I say "yes" of course.

07/01/16 - I go to the dealership, place my order...LBB, DCT, exec, aforementioned accessories, Apple Car Play. Pretty much on a whim I go ahead and buy a 328i while I'm there along with a BMW bike. Hey, I needed a DD and some exercise!

07/04/16 - After spending the weekend torturing myself over the DCT decision, I call and change my order to 6MT. I also get my production number that day and am told I'm slotted for WK 36.

07/19/16 - Joined BMW CCA.

07/22/16 - After two more weeks of torturing myself over the DCT vs 6MT, my car finally shows up on My BMW, albeit as the wrong color (I'm told this happens with dealer allocations.)

Update #1:

08/18/16 - Finally showed as the right color (LBB) on My BMW. Still doesn't show it is in actual production though.

Update #2:

08/20/16 - Called BMW Genius. I'm actually a WK 37 build (dealer told me WK 36.) Estimated to go into production the week of Sept 11. He said to expect production to last approximately 10 days assuming no unforeseen delays. He also said that there was a note in the system to start production earlier if possible so there is a slight chance production could start the week of Sept 4 (maybe this is why the dealer told me WK 36.) Seems odd to me. If a "note" like that actually worked it would seem everyone would put in that note.

Update #3:

08/31/16 - According to my SA, production actually began on 8/31. VIN assigned.

09/01/16 - Car showed up as "Production Begins" on My BMW!!!

Update #4:

09/16/16 - According to BMW Genius the car came out of production on 9/16 and was loaded onto a carrier that same day. It is now awaiting a ship assignment before heading to the port.

09/17/16 - Car showed up as "Production Ends" on My BMW!!!

Update #5:

09/21/16 - Arrived at the port and is awaiting a vessel.

Update #6:

09/28/16 - Left port on the Michigan Highway with a scheduled arrival in Galveston, TX on 10/14.

09/30/16 - Car shows as "En Route to the U.S." on My BMW.

Update #7:

10/18/16 - Ship arrives in Galveston!!!

10/20/16 - My BMW finally updates to "Finishing Touches."

10/24/16 - According to my dealer the car has been loaded onto a carrier and is ready to ship from Galveston to the dealership, which is only an hour away.

Update #8:

10/28/16 - After spending a few days sitting on a carrier in Galveston due to mechanical issues with the truck, my M2 arrives at the dealership! They still need to tint the windows and prep it.

Update #9:

10/29/16 - Picked up my car!!!
However, this happened driving home.

atxsk8r, I was in Bastrop on vacation for a few days last week at Lost Pines. Tried to rework the schedule to see if I could hit you up for a peek at the M2 but couldn't make it work.

Anyway, I did not realize from production to dealer was 45 days. I was hoping to get mine in September but it sounds like October is best case considering mine is not even in production yet.

No problem, hope you had great time in Bastrop! Yep, usually average of 6 weeks from start of production to the dealer.

Will update as things progress.
I'm torn between DCT and the 6MT too, I've driven a stick a few times before but I'll be moving to near the NYC area and am not sure if it would be wise to have it

7/7/16 - F80 M3 taken out by a subaru. - 2 weeks dealing with insurance and recovering from accident.
7/27/16 - Start looking for an M2 while I wait for a new F80 to be built (December). Talk to some deluded people asking > $10k over MSRP. (I was willing to pay a bit over) Wrote spider to notify me of new M2's being listed.
7/30/16 - Notified of a new listing by my spider and it had found one in the color and transmission I wanted. Bought it.
8/8/16 - Finally got the plates sorted out for the out of state purchase (I was on vacation and not able to go to the RMV)
8/11/16 - I will fly to get my M2 and drive it home.

So, 44 days from start of production to arrival at dealership.

THANK YOU! That's concrete, confirmed, useful information we didn't have until now.

Definitely useful information. Since he is in Texas, I'm assuming that should be possibly up to a week shorter for those of us in the NYC Tri-State area.

Hopefully those that received delivery's in the Northeast can chime in as well.

What part of the NYC area? 30 minutes or more outside the city and you should have plenty of open road where manual would be more engaging and therefore more exciting to drive.

I commuted in traffic, 140 miles round trip in a manual car for years with no issues (in the NYC area). It becomes second nature and I don't really think about shifting at all. It is a natural extension of just driving the car. That being said, if you are going to be in stop and go traffic more than 50% of the time you drive the car, then the DCT makes sense.

Have you been checking back on the first page? I have been keeping my timeline up to date even while here in Jamaica on vacation. I believe others have been updating their timeline as well. We are basically the first batch and it's hard to estimate how long the process is going to be on a new model etc. for a complete timeline so you can have an estimate for east coast check the one in my signature.

I'll be about half hour to an hour outside of NYC. That makes sense it'll just take me some time to get adjusted. Now I have an even tougher decision

M2 ordering/timeline BMW winterpark fl

2/6/16 ordered M2, number 5 on list. Given week 14 production.

5/6/16 told that my week 14 production date was a request not an allocation

6/15/16 was told my BMW sales manager I was slated for week 29 production

8/8/16 given no explanation as to the lack of status change, and no new time line as to what is going on with the order.

8/20/16 spoke with sales manager after detaining my less than pleased emotions concerning the information kept from me. Was told that orders 1-2 are in transit, 2-4 are in production, I'm next to receive allocation.

Really hoping that I get the next round of allocation in September for October-December deliveries.

9/13/17. Spoke to CA, production number received.111 status confirmed week 41 build week set.

My family has purchased dozens of cars through this sales manager. Quite unhappy with the lack of communication. All I want is my F-ing car!!! 😔😡

It sounds like the sales manager isn't setting the correct expectation. If anything, you'll get an actual allocation the next round in September.

Do you know around which date (early sept? mid sept? late sept?) the next allocation will be?

I am hoping that I can take delivery in August, especially since I live in the Northeast and the boat ride should be shorter than most other destinations in USA.
Our cars must have been right behind each in the factory, I have the exact same finish date.. My car is coming to the Northeast as well so we almost certainly will be on the same boat
